Luwuk, the capital of Banggai Regency, once again transforms into a global cultural meeting space. For five days, November 11–15, 2025, the Lalong Bay Green Open Space is filled with colors, music, and dances from around the world. This is the "2nd International Festival Lipu Celebes", a cultural celebration that not only showcases local wealth but also embodies the spirit of international friendship.

Upon entering the festival area, the aroma of local MSME culinary offerings blended with the strains of traditional music greets visitors.

A number of creative economy booths are neatly lined up, while cultural delegations from Estonia, Mexico, South Korea, and the Philippines are seen preparing their respective country's typical performances. The festival energy feels alive, festive, warm, and full of curiosity.

International Stage in the Heart of Banggai

In his statement in Palu, Banggai Deputy Regent Furqanuddin Masulili did not hide his pride at the presence of these international guests, along with four neighboring regencies: Morowali, Buol, Toli-Toli, and Tojo Una-Una.

He emphasized this festival is not merely an ordinary arts event.

"Through this event, we introduce to the international community that our region possesses an incredibly rich cultural heritage, stunning natural beauty, and exceptional community creativity," he said.

Amidst the glitter of the open stage, this message feels tangible. Spotlight beams dance over traditional performances while visitors crowd the green grassy area. Everyone is present to celebrate diversity — and Banggai successfully positions itself as a captivating host.

Cross-Cultural Platform and Creative Economy Lever

This festival is not just an art show, but a space for global cultural encounters and international dialogue. Furqanuddin hopes its resonance will attract more tourists to Banggai.

"We want Banggai to become increasingly known as a premier tourism destination, not only nationally but also internationally," he stated.

With Lalong Bay's strategic location facing the open blue sea, the festival feels like a living postcard, inviting everyone to come.

Local MSMEs are not left behind. Many creative entrepreneurs exhibit handicrafts, culinary products, and distinctive regional specialties. All add an authentic touch that completes the festival atmosphere.

Preserving Heritage Through 10 Cultural Advancement Objects

Behind the stage's excitement lies a deeper cultural mission. Head of the Cultural Division of the Banggai Regency Education and Culture Office, Subrata Kalape, explained this festival is part of implementing the commitment to regional cultural advancement.

"The implementation of these 10 cultural advancement objects is our responsibility in advancing culture in Banggai Regency," he said.

He is optimistic next year's festival can attract more international participants. With an increasingly strong track record, this opportunity is highly possible.

An Invitation to Explore Banggai

The vibrancy of the Lipu Celebes Festival proves Banggai can become a world cultural hub, even if only for a few days. Lalong Bay is not just a location — it transforms into a symbol of openness, friendship, and creativity.

For travelers wishing to experience a blend of international culture with Central Sulawesi's natural charm, this festival is the perfect reason to include Banggai in your next journey. (Antara)
