The Indonesia U-17 squad concluded their campaign at the 2025 U-17 World Cup with a historic 2-1 victory over Honduras at Field 7 of Aspire Academy, Doha, Qatar, Monday, November 10, 2025.

This victory marks not only Indonesia U-17's first three points in this year's tournament but also their maiden win throughout their participation history in the U-17 World Cup.

Coach Nova Arianto described this triumph as proof of the hard work from Indonesia's young players who performed with heart and high spirit.

“I give thanks to God as I'm once again grateful to be in this position, guiding these young players through their journey in this World Cup,” stated Nova.

Nova emphasized that this historic win must not make the team complacent, expressing hope that the Garuda Muda young generation would keep developing.

“I urge the players not to stop here since they'll soon move up to higher levels. The expectation is for them to keep progressing and gaining valuable experience during this World Cup,” he said.

With this result, Indonesia ranks third in Group H with three points and a minus-five goal difference.

Though chances to advance to the round of 32 still mathematically exist, they remain slim as progression depends on other match outcomes between Saudi Arabia vs Mali and Paraguay vs Ireland.

PSSI Prepares Follow-up Steps for Garuda Muda

Post-match, PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi confirmed the federation will continue monitoring and nurturing these young players after the U-17 World Cup concludes.

“Several formulations will later be announced by the chairman to care for and maintain these youngsters,” Yunus stated.

He also stressed the importance of maintaining developmental continuity to ensure players retain playing time.

“We're grateful to have earned 3 points in this World Cup. This is undoubtedly the best gift for our nation from Indonesia's Garuda Muda,” he expressed.

According to Yunus, some players will likely advance to the Indonesia U-20 level, while others will remain monitored to ensure ongoing playing opportunities at their respective clubs. (Antara)
