List of 8 Indonesian Representatives with Top Seed Status at the 2026 BWF World Championships

Indonesia is sending 11 representatives to the 2026 BWF World Championships in New Delhi, India, running 17-23 August. Out of this contingent, eight are seeded players and serve as the Red and White team's main hopes to achieve better results than the previous tournament edition.

The eight seeded Indonesian representatives consist of two men's singles players, one women's singles player, three men's doubles pairs, and two women's doubles pairs.

As published on the official BWF website, men's doubles pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri hold the highest seed rank among all Indonesian delegates. They are placed as 2nd seeds, directly behind South Korean pair Kim Won-ho/Seo Seung-jae.

Fajar/Fikri arrive in New Delhi with back-to-back title momentum, having won both the 2026 Japan Open and China Open. Notably, the Indonesian pair defeated Kim/Seo in the final match of both these tournaments.

The men's doubles squad is also bolstered by Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani who hold the 9th seed, while Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin are listed as 12th seeds.

With three pairs securing seeded positions, men's doubles stands as one of Indonesia's most promising sectors in terms of competitive depth.

Jonatan Christie and Alwi Farhan Lead Men's Singles Hopes

In the men's singles category, Jonatan Christie is seeded 3rd. The Indonesian shuttler ranks only behind China's Shi Yu Qi and Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the official seeding list.

Jonatan carries one of Indonesia's core hopes to reclaim the men's singles world championship title. He will be joined by Alwi Farhan, who holds the 11th seed position.

Putri Kusuma Wardani As Sole Seeded Women's Singles Player

Meanwhile, Putri Kusuma Wardani is the only Indonesian representative with a seed rank in the women's singles category, placed as 6th seed.

This seeding status provides extra motivation for Putri, who earned positive results at last year's World Championships. At the 2025 Paris edition, Putri took home the bronze medal.

Putri's tournament run ended in the semi-finals after being defeated by Japan's Akane Yamaguchi in a three-game match with final scores 17-21, 21-14, 6-21.

Two Seeded Pairs In Women's Doubles

Indonesia's remaining two seeded entries come from the women's doubles sector. Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum are placed as 12th seeds.

Meanwhile, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari sit one rank below as the 13th seeds.

Outside the eight seeded players, Indonesia also fields three unseeded representatives: women's singles player Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan, and two mixed doubles pairs Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah and Marwan Faza/Aisyah Salsabila Putri Pranata.

All 11 Indonesian delegates carry the mission to improve on the country's performance at the prior BWF World Championships. During the 2025 Paris edition, Indonesia only secured one bronze medal through Putri Kusuma Wardani.

Indonesia last claimed the world championship title when men's doubles pair Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan won gold at the 2019 World Championships in Basel, Switzerland.
