Barcelona forward Ferran Torres has stated his desire to join Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) during the 2026 summer transfer window. This intention emerged after the Spanish international agreed personal terms with the reigning European champion club.

Torres has only one year remaining on his Barcelona contract. According to ESPN reports, Barcelona will not obstruct the 26-year-old forward's departure as long as PSG meets the transfer valuation agreed between the two clubs.

Barcelona is currently awaiting the first official offer from the side managed by Luis Enrique.

Luis Enrique as the Critical Driving Factor

Torres had previously dropped signals about a potential exit from Barcelona. While on a promotional tour in the United States last week, he openly hinted that he is receptive to pursuing a new professional challenge.

Luis Enrique's tenure at PSG is cited as one of the core reasons Torres is considering this transfer.

Luis Enrique is not an unfamiliar figure to Torres. The Spanish head coach previously worked directly with the forward during their time together with the Spanish national team.

Barcelona Required to Source a New Forward

With Torres' departure now likely, Barcelona have initiated their search for a replacement attacker.

Prior to this development, Robert Lewandowski had already departed Barcelona to join Major League Soccer franchise Chicago Fire.

Barcelona is reported to have identified Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez as their primary transfer target.

However, Atletico Madrid are refusing to release the Argentine player, meaning the Catalan club will need to secure alternative options.

Torres' Transformation Into Central Striker

Barcelona originally signed Torres from Manchester City in 2021 for a transfer fee of 55 million euros.

Initially deployed as a winger, Torres gradually transitioned into a central striker role under head coach Hansi Flick.

Last season was one of Torres' strongest campaigns with the Blaugrana. He registered 21 goals from 49 appearances across all competitions, improving on his previous season return of 19 goals from 45 matches.

Across his five seasons at Barcelona, Torres has scored 65 total goals from 207 senior appearances.

Torres will enter the 2026 summer transfer market as a reigning world champion, having been part of the Spain squad that won the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He earned hero status for La Roja after scoring the sole winning goal against Argentina during the final's extra time period.
