Indonesia is set to host the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup, with Bandung and Jakarta currently making preparations for the tournament.

Bandung and Jakarta are preparing to act as the two host cities for the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup, running from 23 September to 3 October. Both cities will hold a central role in delivering this tournament that brings together national teams from across Southeast Asia.

Preparations are not only focused on official match stadiums, but also cover training pitches, event logistics, public promotion, as well as hospitality and services for players and accredited officials.

In Bandung, Si Jalak Harupat Stadium is being prepared as one of the primary competition venues. The West Java Provincial Government has allocated multiple training facilities, including ITB Stadium, Arcamanik Stadium and Sidolig Stadium.

Two backup venues have also been confirmed: Unpad Stadium and the IPDN Jatinangor training ground.

"We are ready to fulfil our duties as hosts, working in full coordination with our counterparts from DKI Jakarta," stated West Java Regional Secretary Herman Suryatman, speaking after a cross-agency coordination meeting for the FIFA ASEAN Cup with Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir in Jakarta on Monday.

West Java holds proven experience hosting top-tier international football, having acted as a host region for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup. This track record forms the foundation for the local administration to deliver another large scale international event.

"God willing, we will commit our full resources and effort for the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup," he added.

Jakarta Prepares GBK Main Stadium and Training Facilities

Jakarta has formally confirmed its operational readiness as host city for the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup. The Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) will operate as the capital city's primary match venue.

Head of DKI Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency Andri Yansyah noted that Jakarta holds a long established track record of delivering major international sporting events and official gatherings.

Alongside the main competition stadium, a number of dedicated training pitches are being upgraded and prepared to meet the requirements of all participating national teams.

Lapangan Banteng, Soemantri Brodjonegoro Field, plus Pitch 1 and Pitch 2 at Jakarta International Stadium have all been listed as confirmed facilities for the tournament.

Jakarta's preparations extend far beyond match day operations. The local government is also finalising supporting arrangements for event promotion and cross-city mobility for the full duration of the tournament.

"We will also be providing dedicated transport and support for players and officials to visit approved local tourist destinations using the city's official fleet," he stated.

Indonesia Drawn Into Group A

The 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup will use an unconventional competition structure, with no semi-final round held during the tournament.

The event will be split across two separate divisions. The Premier Division will be hosted entirely in Indonesia, while the Challenge Division will be held in Hong Kong.

Indonesia has been placed in Premier Division Group A alongside Malaysia, India and Singapore. Group B consists of Thailand, Vietnam, Pakistan and the Philippines.

For the Challenge Division, Hong Kong, Myanmar and Brunei Darussalam make up Group A, while Cambodia, Laos and Timor Leste are drawn into Group B.

Under this format, only the top placed team from each group will progress directly to the final match. This structure gives every single group stage fixture very high competitive weight, requiring all squads to maintain consistent performance from their very opening match.
