Today's 2026 China Open Schedule: 6 Indonesian Representatives Are Competing for Spots in the Round of 16

Indonesia will begin their campaign at the BWF World Tour Super 1000 China Open 2026 on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. Six Indonesian representatives will compete in the Round of 32 at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium.

Matches kicking off at 07.00 WIB mark the first test for the Red and White shuttlers to secure their spot in the Round of 16.

A line-up of compelling fixtures awaits, including appearances from leading contenders Jonatan Christie and men's doubles pair Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Shohibul Fikri.

Jonatan and Alwi Lead Men's Singles Charge

In the men's singles draw, all attention falls on 4th seed Jonatan Christie. The Asian Games champion will take on Japan's Yudai Okimoto, bringing years of proven experience at badminton's elite global tour level.

Jonatan will be expected to lock into his match rhythm immediately from the opening points to progress smoothly through to the next stage.

Meanwhile Alwi Farhan faces a different kind of test against rising young Indian shuttler Ayush Shetty.

This encounter is forecast to be a fiercely contested battle, with both players specialising in fast, all-out aggressive game styles.

Consistency will prove the deciding factor for Alwi as he chases progress at his first Super 1000 tournament of this season.

Fajar / Fikri Launch Title Defence Mission

In the men's doubles bracket, Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Shohibul Fikri return as one of the tournament's headline entries.

The 2nd seeded pair arrive in Changzhou riding high on confidence, fresh off their 2026 Japan Open title win and entering this event as defending China Open champions.

For their first round fixture, Fajar / Fikri will face home competitors Huang Di / Liu Yang.

Even with the backing of the local Chinese crowd behind their opponents, the Indonesian duo remain clear favourites to advance to the last 16.

Women's Doubles Pairs Handed Tough Opening Draws

Indonesia has also fielded two entries in the women's doubles competition.

Rachel Allessya Rose / Febi Setianingrum face an uphill opening test against tournament 2nd seeds Jia Yi Fan / Zhang Shu Xian of the host nation China.

While their opponents carry strong favouritism, Rachel / Febi retain an upset chance if they can play free of pressure and convert every scoring opportunity that arises.

Elsewhere, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma / Meilysa Trias Puspitasari also open against elite opposition, taking on 6th seeded South Korean pair Kim Hye Jeong / Kong Hee Yong.

This match is expected to play out as a tight tactical battle, with both pairs renowned for their sharp speed and net control.

Amri / Nita Given Hardest Opening Challenge

In the mixed doubles category, Amri Syahnawi / Nita Violina Marwah have received the most difficult first round assignment out of all Indonesian entrants.

They will go up against 4th seeded Thai duo Dechapol Puavaranukroh / Supissara Paewsampran, one of the highest ranked mixed doubles pairs on the world circuit at present.

Though competing as unseeded outsiders, Amri / Nita are tasked with playing fearlessly and delivering a full fighting performance to try and pull off a surprise result in the opening round.
