Tourist Destinations Around Mount Bromo That Can Still Be Visited

The wildfire that hit the Mount Bromo area has resulted in the closure of tourist access to the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS). However, visitors still have several destination options around Bromo, particularly within Probolinggo Regency, East Java.

"Access to the Mount Bromo area via all four official entry gates has been closed since 22.00 WIB on Saturday (8/8) due to the fire. Nevertheless, a number of tourist sites in Probolinggo Regency that are located around the Bromo zone remain safe for visits," stated Heri Mulyadi, Head of Probolinggo Regency Youth, Sports and Tourism Agency (Disporapar).

Based on local government monitoring, destinations including Bromo Glass Bridge, Seruni Point Peak, and Seruni Point Tourist Terminal are all currently in safe condition.

These locations may still receive tourist visits as active fire points remain at a significant distance from these sites.

Bromo Glass Bridge to Seruni Point

Bromo Glass Bridge is one option for visitors who wish to enjoy the mountain range panorama without entering the restricted Mount Bromo zone.

Seruni Point Peak offers natural mountain views from the Probolinggo Regency side.

Seruni Point Tourist Terminal also remains acceptable for visits.

Even so, the local government has reminded tourists to monitor the latest situation updates before travelling.

"As of today, these tourist destinations are still safe and open for visitors. However, we will continue to observe all on-site developments," he stated.

This means the safe status is dynamic. If the direction and spread of the wildfire changes, visitor access status will be re-evaluated.

Safety as the Primary Consideration

The Probolinggo Regency Government does not rule out restricting or even fully suspending visits if the forest and land fire within TNBTS starts approaching or endangering tourist sites under its jurisdiction.

"It is safe to visit today, but should conditions change at any time, access will be closed immediately if it compromises safety, comfort and public order," he added.

Preventive measures have been prepared to protect both tourists and local residents living around these destinations.

"Probolinggo Regency Disporapar together with relevant authorities will continuously monitor the wildfire progression. Public safety will remain the primary consideration when determining policies regarding tourist access to all destinations within Probolinggo Regency," he concluded.
