Indonesia national team defeated Timor Leste 3-0 in the 2026 AFF Cup Group A match at Chonburi Stadium, Thailand, Friday 31 July WIB. This result took Indonesia to the top of the temporary Group A standings.

Meanwhile, this defeat against Indonesia completely ended Timor Leste's hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals. Timor Leste have not earned any points after suffering three consecutive losses.

Indonesia Struggled In The First Half

Indonesia attempted to take control of the match right from kick-off. However, poor final finishing became the main barrier for Garuda to take the lead.

Timor Leste were reduced to 10 players starting from the 21st minute. Jackson Flower received his second yellow card after committing a foul against Thom Haye.

Even with the numerical advantage, Indonesia were still unable to maximize their created chances.

Timor Leste's tight defensive block and sharp performance from goalkeeper Dylan Jose made it very difficult for Indonesia to break the deadlock.

Despite producing a number of dangerous opportunities, Indonesia had to settle for a goalless score at half time.

Indonesia Dominated The Second Half

John Herdman made multiple player substitutions at the start of the second half. The English head coach brought on Ragnar Oratmangoen, Egy Maulana Vikri, Sandy Walsh, Shayne Pattynama, and Dony Tri Pamungkas to shift the momentum of the match.

Indonesia finally broke the deadlock in the 75th minute. Shayne Pattynama opened Garuda's lead by finishing off Dony Tri Pamungkas' cross.

Two minutes later, Thom Haye doubled Indonesia's advantage with a free kick that landed perfectly into the top right corner of Dylan Jose's goal.

Indonesia did not stop attacking. Three minutes after Haye's goal, Mitchell Baker also registered his name on the scoreboard.

The young Indonesian striker converted Ragnar Oratmangoen's low through pass to bring Indonesia to a 3-0 lead.

This advantage remained until the full time whistle.

With the 3 additional points earned from this victory, Indonesia have now collected 6 points from two matches played.

This result elevated Garuda to the top of the provisional Group A standings.
