The 2026 World Cup will not only feature an all-new tournament format with the largest number of participating teams in history, but also debut a fresh visual identity through three official mascots. These three mascots each represent the host nations: the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Unlike previous World Cup editions which almost exclusively used only one mascot, this tournament features three characters simultaneously as a symbol of collaboration between the three host countries.
According to FIFA's official website, all three mascots are inspired by native wildlife from each respective nation. The United States is represented by an eagle named Clutch, Mexico by a jaguar called Zayu, while Canada selected a deer named Maple.

The selection of these three animals reflects both the cultural identity and natural heritage of every nation hosting the 2026 World Cup.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino explained that Clutch, Zayu and Maple are not just tournament symbols — they also embody the core spirit that will be carried throughout the entire World Cup event.
"These three mascots will sit at the heart of the incredible atmosphere and entertainment during the tournament," stated Infantino.
He expressed hope that the presence of the mascots will strengthen togetherness among football fans from every corner of the world for the full duration of the competition.
The First Playable World Cup Mascots
Beyond serving as official tournament icons, Clutch, Zayu and Maple have also made history as the first ever FIFA mascots available as playable characters in the official licensed FIFA game titled FIFA Heroes.
This initiative forms part of FIFA's innovations to expand the fan experience, extending beyond live matches at stadiums into digital platforms and interactive entertainment.
With characters representing the United States, Mexico and Canada, these three mascots are expected to become the new public face of the 2026 World Cup while reinforcing the tournament's distinct identity.
