A total of 32 teams have secured their places in the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Round of 32 will deliver high-stakes matches, including a fixture between Brazil and Japan, as well as Argentina coming up against tournament debutants Cape Verde.

The group stage officially concluded on Sunday WIB, with Austria and Algeria becoming the final two nations to qualify for the knockout round.

South Africa will face Canada in the opening match of the Round of 32. This fixture kicks off one full week of tightly contested knockout matches.

The most anticipated fixture sees Brazil take on Japan. The Samba Boys enter this tie as one of the pre-tournament favourites for the title. Meanwhile, the Blue Samurai carry formidable form after progressing through the entire group stage without recording a single defeat.

Japan are expected to once again lean on their organised defensive discipline and the outstanding performances of goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. For Brazil, they will field a deadly attacking unit spearheaded by Vinicius Junior, who will pose the biggest test for the Asian side's backline.

Other standout matchups include Germany vs Paraguay, Netherlands vs Morocco and France vs Sweden.

The 2026 World Cup Round of 32 marks the point where the tournament properly begins. There is zero margin for error from this stage onwards, as only victory will keep any team's dream of lifting the world championship trophy alive.
