Persib Bandung moved quickly to fill the gap in their forward line following Andrew Jung's departure. The Indonesian Super League champions have recruited Montenegrin striker Balsa Sekulic as Maung Bandung's new spearhead ahead of the 2026/2027 season.
Sekulic has been signed on a two-year contract running until 2028. Recruiting this 28-year-old player is part of Persib's strategy to maintain competitiveness in both domestic and Asian competitions.
Adhitia Putra Herawan, Deputy CEO of PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat, explained that the decision to bring in Sekulic came from the coaching team's evaluation after Andrew Jung chose to continue his career with another club.

“We build the squad based on team needs and recommendations from the coaching staff. Once Andrew Jung decided to continue his career elsewhere, we moved to find a figure with the character, quality, and experience that matches Persib's requirements,” stated Adhitia.
According to Adhitia, Persib was not just looking for a replacement striker, but one that fits the team's playing style. After mapping out team requirements, Sekulic was deemed the right figure to strengthen the Blue Prince's front line.
His track record was the primary consideration. Before relocating to Indonesia, Sekulic played for FK Mornar Bar in the Montenegrin League. During his tenure at the club, he made 48 appearances and scored 22 goals.
Sekulic also has experience outside of Montenegrin domestic football. He already got a taste of Asian football atmosphere when he played for Gangwon FC (South Korea) in the 2022–2023 season, before continuing his career with Metalurg Bekabad (Uzbekistan) in 2024.
At international level, Sekulic represented Montenegro U-21 from 2017 to 2020. He also received call-ups for the Montenegro senior national team in 2022.
Sekulic's arrival adds to the list of Montenegrin players that have previously played for Persib. Before him, Maung Bandung had been strengthened by Miljan Radovic, Zdravko Dragicevic, Vladimir Vujovic, and Ilija Spasojevic.
The club management hopes Sekulic can quickly adapt to Igor Tolic's squad playing style and deliver contributions right from the start of the season.
“Wilujeng sumping, Balsa Sekulic. Welcome to the big Persib family. We hope Balsa can settle in quickly, enjoy the football atmosphere in Bandung, and give his absolute best contribution to keep Persib achieving success,” Adhitia stated.
