Sentul, Bogor – Three leading national teams face another critical test as the 2026 World Cup group stage continues. Netherlands will face Sweden in a fixture that could define their knockout stage progression, Germany meet a serious threat from the in-form Ivory Coast, while Spain are under pressure to bounce back against Saudi Arabia after failing to meet expectations in their previous match.
These three matches are the core discussion topic on Itsme Podcast, featuring Football analysts Ronny Pangemanan and Erwin Fitriansyah. Hosted by Gilang Respaty and Yatna from the Sentul, Bogor studio, the episode breaks down the chances, strengths and challenges facing each team.
According to Ronny Pangemanan, the Netherlands vs Sweden fixture is one of the most decisive matches of the entire group phase. While the Netherlands retain strong individual player quality, their overall form has yet to fully convince. Ronny stated that De Oranje must improve attacking efficiency and clinical finishing if they want to secure victory.

"Netherlands hold the advantage in raw player quality, but Sweden is an extremely disciplined side. They are very hard to break down and will punish mistakes with fast transition attacks," said Ronny.
Erwin Fitriansyah added that Sweden are expected to adopt a pragmatic game plan. Their well-organised defensive structure will act as their primary weapon to neutralise the Netherlands' midfield creativity. For this reason, patience and varied attacking patterns will be the key for Ronald Koeman's side.
Attention will also fall heavily on Germany's clash with Ivory Coast. While Der Panzer remain favourites on paper, Ronny warned this match will not be as straightforward as most observers assume.
Ivory Coast boast a dangerous combination of physical power, pace and aggression that can trouble any opposition. In recent years this African representative has developed into a tactically mature side that no longer relies solely on individual brilliance.
"If Germany drop their concentration even briefly, Ivory Coast can pull off an upset. They have the energy and boldness to play open attacking football against top nations," Ronny explained.
That said, Erwin noted that major tournament experience remains Germany's greatest advantage. The presence of seasoned international players is expected to help them control match tempo when pressure builds.
Meanwhile Spain's fixture against Saudi Arabia is viewed as a critical redemption opportunity for La Roja. After failing to score in their last match, Spain have faced criticism for dominating possession but lacking cutting edge in the final third.
Erwin assessed that Spain's core issue is not their playing style, but finishing effectiveness. He confirmed that the quality within the Spanish squad still makes them clear favourites for this fixture.
"Spain are still creating plenty of good chances. All they are missing is that final clinical touch. If they can correct this, they should be able to overcome Saudi Arabia," he stated.
However Ronny warned that Saudi Arabia cannot be underestimated. The Asian side is renowned for their tight defensive organisation and dangerous counter attacking ability. For this reason Spain will need to start aggressively from kickoff to avoid mounting pressure later in the match.
All three fixtures are expected to paint a far clearer picture of the qualification race for the Round of 16. For Netherlands, Germany and Spain, victory will not only deliver three valuable points - it will also uphold their status as serious contenders for the 2026 World Cup title.
