Real Madrid One Step Away From Signing Yan Diomande, Transfer Value Reaches IDR 2.44 Trillion

Real Madrid is reportedly edging ever closer to securing the signature of RB Leipzig's young winger Yan Diomande in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Spanish giants are said to have reached a preliminary agreement with Leipzig to sign the Ivory Coast international, who has emerged as one of the most sought-after young talents in Europe.

Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs reported on Monday that Real Madrid and RB Leipzig have agreed on the basic framework for Diomande's transfer. While full contract details have not yet been made public, the 19-year-old's transfer fee is estimated at 120 million euros, or approximately 2.44 trillion Indonesian Rupiah.

Leipzig had previously rejected bids in the region of 100 million euros submitted by both Real Madrid and Liverpool. Los Blancos are now confirmed to have pulled ahead as clear frontrunners in the race for the player.

Before Real Madrid escalated their pursuit, Diomande had been a target for multiple elite European clubs including Liverpool, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Earlier reports even indicated the winger was initially leaning towards continuing his career at PSG, who have won the UEFA Champions League for two consecutive seasons.

However the dynamic of the transfer race shifted entirely once Real Madrid entered negotiations. The Madrid based club is now widely regarded as the overwhelming favourite to complete the signing of the explosive winger.

Yan Diomande's Performances For RB Leipzig

Diomande enjoyed a breakthrough outstanding campaign for RB Leipzig throughout the 2025/2026 season. The Ivory Coast international recorded 12 goals and 8 assists, while playing a key role in Leipzig finishing the campaign in 3rd position in the final Bundesliga standings.

This exceptional form earned him the official Bundesliga Rookie of the Season award, following the path of previous winners who went on to become global stars including Michael Olise, Alphonso Davies and Ousmane Dembélé.

A major attribute that has attracted interest from top clubs is Diomande's ability to perform consistently on either left or right flank. Prior to his success in Germany, Diomande spent the full 2024/2025 season playing for La Liga side Leganés.

His profile rose dramatically after he scored his first senior career hat-trick during Leipzig's dominant 6-0 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt last December.

Beyond his goals and assists output, Diomande also registered the highest number of successful dribbles across the entire Bundesliga last season with 118 completed take-ons, a statistic that demonstrates his elite ability in 1 against 1 situations.

Diomande's contribution is not limited to attacking play. Renowned for his exceptional work rate, he won a total of 437 defensive and aerial duels over the course of last season, a higher total than any other player across every single playing position in the Bundesliga.

Should this transfer be fully finalised, Real Madrid will have secured one of the highest rated young prospects in all of European football. Diomande's arrival is also expected to strengthen Los Blancos' long term squad regeneration plans for multiple upcoming seasons.
