Indonesia National Team has the opportunity to close out the June FIFA Match Day series with a perfect record when they host Mozambique at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta, Tuesday 9 June 2026. Following a dominant 3-0 win over Oman, the Garuda squad is targeting their second victory against Mozambique.

Indonesian midfielder Joey Pelupessy confirmed that the team's goal is not simply to put on a good performance, but also to bring joy to supporters by securing a positive result against Mozambique.

"Our main target is to go through this match against Mozambique properly and make everyone happy," stated Joey Pelupessy during the pre-match press conference held at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta on Monday.

This optimism arose after Indonesia claimed a Historic Victory over Oman. The 3-0 result from the opening FIFA Match Day fixture did not only deliver a massive confidence boost, it also ended a 38-year long wait for Indonesia to defeat the Middle Eastern side.

The next challenge now comes from Mozambique, an African nation recognised for their distinct playing characteristics. Pelupessy acknowledged the match will not run smoothly, even with Indonesia carrying momentum from their heavy recent win.

As explained by the Lommel SK player, Mozambique operate with a game system that will demand full readiness from every single member of the squad. For this reason, Indonesia are working to make the most of their limited preparation time.

Pelupessy revealed that training sessions have progressed positively, with all players displaying high enthusiasm despite the very packed Match Schedule. This drive is seen as a critical asset to carry over the winning momentum built against Oman.

"We have to get this second good result, because that will let us wrap up this training camp and this run of fixtures on a strong note," he added.

Alongside outlining team targets, Pelupessy also noted positive development within the Garuda squad. The integration of several young players has been observed to inject fresh energy while also strengthening overall squad depth.

This includes Matthew Baker, who made his official debut during the win over Oman. Alongside Baker, Doni Tri Pamungkas and Mauro Zijlstra have also demonstrated rapid adaptation to the national team's playing requirements and training methodology.

For Pelupessy, the young players' ability to settle quickly into the squad is an encouraging sign for Indonesia's long term future. Healthy internal competition within the group is expected to raise the overall standard of the national team.

"So for me this is very positive progress for this group, that we have different profiles of players including young talents in the squad, because they are able to adapt," he concluded.
