Indonesia National Team continued their positive run under the guidance of John Herdman after defeating Mozambique 1-0 in this FIFA Matchday fixture held at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta, Tuesday 9 June 2026.

This victory marks the second consecutive positive result for the Garuda Squad, following their earlier 3-0 win over Oman.

Right from the opening whistle, Indonesia took the initiative of play and pressed deep into Mozambique's defensive half. The Red and White side almost opened the scoring just three minutes into the match.

A corner kick delivered by Kevin Diks was headed by Elkan Baggott against the goalpost, rebounding straight to Ole Romeny. Unfortunately Romeny's follow up effort also struck the woodwork.

Indonesia threatened again in the 8th minute. Kevin Diks made a penetrating run down the left flank before unleashing a powerful strike, which drifted just wide of the target.

The goal the SUGBK crowd had been waiting for finally arrived in the 12th minute. Ragnar Oratmangoen played a sharp through ball that split open the Mozambique defence and landed at Ole Romeny's feet.

The Indonesian forward then dummied past goalkeeper Ivane Francisco Urrabal to put Indonesia ahead 1-0.

After Ole's goal, Indonesia grew in confidence and maintained full control of proceedings. The Garuda side had a second goal from a direct Kevin Diks corner kick ruled out, as a foul against Ivane was called in the build up.

Mozambique did not go without resistance. The African side created several dangerous chances through Alcides and Dario Melo.

Maarten Paes pulled off a critical save to deny Alcides' effort, before Kevin Diks produced a last-ditch block to shut down Dario Melo's follow up attempt right in front of goal.

As the second half commenced, the match became far tighter. Mozambique adopted a disciplined defensive approach, packing numbers at the back to neutralise Indonesia's attacking intensity.

This tactic made it difficult for Indonesia to carve out clear cut chances. Even so, Herdman's side still retained control of the match flow and dominated possession.

In the 67th minute, substitute Rayhan Hannan sent a looping cross towards Nathan Tjoe-A-On at the far post, but Tjoe-A-On's volley crashed against the goalpost as Indonesia missed the chance to double their lead.

Mozambique attempted to hit back on counter attacks in search of an equaliser. Alcides found space to shoot in the 70th minute, but his effort sailed comfortably over Maarten Paes' crossbar.

Maarten Paes once again showed off his excellent reflexes, tipping Celton Jamisse's shot wide of goal.

Despite being unable to add to their goal tally, Indonesia held on to their lead until the final whistle blew.

This 1-0 victory over Mozambique serves as proof of the Garuda squad's consistent and developing on-pitch performance.
