The Indonesia National Team carries extremely convincing statistical momentum heading into their opening Group A match of the 2026 ASEAN Hyundai Cup, also known as the 2026 AFF Cup, against Cambodia. Despite holding a superior historical head-to-head record, the Garuda squad remains focused and refuses to underestimate their opponent's capabilities.
The Indonesia vs Cambodia fixture will be held at Pakansari Stadium, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Monday 27 July 2026, kicking off at 20.30 WIB. This match marks the start of Garuda's campaign in the tournament, while Cambodia enter this fixture coming off a 1-2 defeat against Singapore in their opening group game.
According to 11v11 match data, Indonesia have never lost to Cambodia across 18 meetings in all international competitions. From these fixtures, the Garuda squad have recorded 17 wins, with only one draw between the two sides.

Indonesia's dominance is also reflected in their attacking output. Garuda have scored a total of 80 goals against Cambodia, averaging 4.4 goals per match. In contrast, Cambodia have only found the back of Indonesia's net 10 times in the entire history of meetings between the two nations.
This impressive track record provides valuable backing for John Herdman's side as they target a perfect start to their 2026 AFF Cup campaign.
The 10-0 Victory Remains The Biggest Winning Margin
The first ever meeting between Indonesia and Cambodia took place on 6 December 1995 at the SEA Games. On that occasion, Garuda put in a dominant performance to thrash Cambodia 10-0.
To this day, that result still stands as Indonesia's largest ever victory over the Angkor Warriors.
Meanwhile, the only occasion Indonesia failed to secure victory against Cambodia came on 27 April 1997 during the 1998 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. That match finished 1-1, and remains the only time Cambodia have avoided defeat against Garuda.
Since that result, Indonesia have come out on top in every subsequent meeting. Most recently at the 2022 AFF Cup, Garuda secured a 2-1 victory on 23 December 2022.
John Herdman Warns Garuda To Remain Vigilant
Despite all the statistics favouring Indonesia, head coach John Herdman has stressed that his side will not become complacent over past records.
The Canadian manager stated that Cambodia have shown clear development as a side, boasting well-organised structure and high discipline that makes them a dangerous opponent.
"Cambodia are an organised, very disciplined team. They will be a difficult opponent. But our focus stays on the Indonesia national team, our playing identity, our connections, chemistry and team spirit," Herdman stated.
This statement confirms that the Garuda squad are prioritising delivering their best performance, rather than relying on historical head-to-head results.
This match against Cambodia is Indonesia's first test as they chase the 2026 ASEAN Hyundai Cup title. Full home support at Pakansari Stadium is expected to provide extra energy for Marselino Ferdinan and his teammates to kick off the tournament with a win.
Should they maintain their dominance over Cambodia, Garuda will not only extend their unbeaten head-to-head record, but also put themselves in an excellent position to progress smoothly through to the next stage of the tournament.
