Mount Bromo has always been synonymous with its breathtaking sunrise panoramas and vast, striking sand sea expanse. Now however, this favourite Tourism Destination in East Java is offering travellers an entirely new experience through the Bromo Sunset Music and Culture event, themed “Bromo in Wonderlight”.
Held at Seruni Point on the evening of Saturday, 16 May 2026, this event brings together a seamless blend of art, culture, and the magical mountain atmosphere. Light drifting mist, Bromo's signature crisp cold air, and warm lighting cascading over the amphitheatre combine to create a vivid, deeply memorable visitor experience.
Far more than just a standard entertainment showcase, this event also operates as a dedicated creative space for local artists and Creative Economy practitioners to present their finest works to visiting tourists.

Mount Bromo Temporarily Closed: Schedule and Reasons
"This initiative provides a collaborative space for artists and Creative Economy actors to exhibit their best work within the Bromo tourist zone," stated Heri Mulyadi, Head of Probolinggo Regency Youth, Sports and Tourism Office.
A Different Side Of Bromo After Dark
While visitors have traditionally travelled to Bromo specifically to chase sunrise views, on this occasion the soft twilight and quiet night atmosphere became the event's core attraction.
Seruni Point's amphitheatre was transformed into an open-air cultural stage, framed against the dramatic silhouetted mountain backdrop. The cool highland air merged with live musical arrangements and traditional arts performances, creating an atmosphere that cannot be found at any other Tourist Destination.
A diverse lineup of performances was featured at the event, ranging from live music sets, traditional dance, mime theatre, and solo artistic pencak silat martial arts displays.
Arts communities that participated in the festival included the Remime Remind Your Imagination mime collective, Vaizh and Friends, solo pencak silat performer Ayu Kindi Nasya, and Ayodya Bahuwarna Dance Studio.
"Through this event, we aim to provide a safe platform for expression for Probolinggo Regency artists, cultural custodians and creative economy workers, so their work can be performed and gain wider recognition among both local communities and visiting tourists," he added.
Nature And Cultural Tourism Combined In One Experience
Bromo in Wonderlight delivers a tourism concept that does not only prioritise natural scenery, but also intentionally introduces visitors to the depth of local Cultural Heritage.
Travellers are not only treated to the iconic captivating views of Mount Bromo, but also invited to engage with the creativity of Young Generation creators from Probolinggo Regency, presented through the full range of artistic performances.
The diversity of work on display demonstrates the enormous untapped potential of the Bromo area as a leading culture and creative economy focused tourism destination.
"We hope that Bromo Sunset Music and Culture will not only function as entertainment, but also strengthen regional cultural identity, while supporting the long term development of arts and culture based tourism across Probolinggo Regency," he stated.
Beyond providing enjoyment for visitors, this initiative is also designed to deliver measurable positive impacts for the growth of the local community's creative economy.
A New Attraction For Bromo Tourism
Until now, Mountain Tourism at Bromo has been defined almost exclusively by its Penanjakan sunrise viewpoint, Teletubbies Hill, and world famous active crater. However, the launch of events such as Bromo in Wonderlight marks a fresh, innovative new direction for tourism development in this region.
Arts and culture festivals of this type are proven to encourage tourists to extend their stay in the Bromo area, while opening up new sustainable opportunities for local MSMEs, arts communities, and independent local business owners.
"This synergy between art, culture and tourism is expected to deliver lasting positive benefits for the growth of the local community's creative economy," Heri explained.
With its dramatic natural setting layered with authentic local arts and cultural expression, Bromo is no longer just a destination to watch the sunrise. It has evolved into a place where visitors can experience deeply emotional, genuine and meaningful travel moments.
