The development of padel sport in Indonesia has received official recognition from the International Padel Federation (FIP). Following proven success hosting multiple championships in the previous year, Indonesia has been entrusted to organise six international padel tournaments throughout 2026.

This growth in hosted events confirms that Indonesia's tournament organisation standards have earned appreciation from the global governing body. Alongside strengthening Indonesia's standing in international padel, this mandate also opens far wider opportunities for national athletes to compete at elite global level.

Mochtar Sarman, First Vice Chairman of the Indonesian National Padel Association (PBPI), confirmed that FIP awarded this expanded trust after reviewing Indonesia's successful tournament delivery during 2025.

"Last year in 2025 we were granted hosting rights for just two tournaments, and the federation was extremely satisfied with our execution. That is the reason we have been trusted with six full tournaments for 2026," Mochtar stated during the official press launch for FIP Bronze-Promises Jakarta 2026, held in Jakarta on Monday 6 July 2026.

Expanded International Tournament Schedule

For 2026, Indonesia returns as host for an FIP Bronze category event in Jakarta, following the successful Yogyakarta series held at the end of May this year.

Having only hosted two FIP Bronze tournaments in 2025, this year Indonesia will run six separate international championships across Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Banten and Bali. The calendar also includes dedicated FIP Promises tournaments for junior age group athletes.

PBPI officials note that this increased international fixture list provides invaluable opportunity for domestic athletes to build competitive match experience, while benchmarking their ability against elite players from around the world.

Beyond athlete development, hosting these international events is also targeted to drive growth in Indonesia's sports tourism sector.

PBPI has implemented a 'padel tourism' framework designed to deliver a positive experience for visiting international athletes, coaching staff and event officials. This approach ensures tournaments operate not just as sporting competitions, but also as platforms to showcase Indonesia's tourist destinations globally.

The growing mainstream popularity of padel within Indonesia is also demonstrated by consistent rises in participant numbers for every tournament round.

Approximately 120 domestic athletes competed at the May Yogyakarta series. For the upcoming Jakarta round, registrations for Indonesian players have already surged to over 300 athletes.

This growth reflects an increasing number of players pursuing formal competitive careers through internationally accredited official tournaments.

FIP Bronze-Promises Jakarta Attracts 510 Athletes From 31 Nations

FIP Bronze-Promises Jakarta 2026 will be staged at Rana Grounds, South Jakarta, running from 6 to 12 July 2026.

The tournament has received 510 total registered competitors representing 31 countries. Over 200 male and female elite athletes will contest the FIP Bronze division, including players from Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Kazakhstan and the host nation Indonesia.

The concurrent FIP Promises division will host junior competitors across U-14, U-16 and U-18 age categories, as part of the global federation's youth talent development programme.

As Indonesia continues to host an increasing volume of international padel events, PBPI aims to steadily raise standards for national athletes, while establishing Indonesia as one of the primary padel development hubs across the Asian region.
