The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) Management Center has officially suspended all tourist activities within the Mount Bromo area for the full duration of the 2026 Yadnya Kasada ritual.
Head of the TNBTS Management Center Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha stated this policy was enacted following an official circular from the Chairman of the Tengger Region Paruman Dukun Pandita regarding implementation of the 2026 Yadnya Kasada Ritual Ceremony.
"Closure of the Bromo area will take effect from 00:00 WIB 30 May 2026 until 23:59 WIB 2 June 2026 for the Kasada ritual proceedings," Rudi stated in Malang, East Java on Sunday, 24 May 2026.

As formal follow-up, the TNBTS Management Center also issued Official Announcement Letter No. PG.7/T.8/TU/HMS.01.08/B/05/2026 regarding suspension of Mountain Tourism operations at Mount Bromo and surrounding zones throughout the Yadnya Kasada procession.
During the closure period, the Mount Bromo tourist site which sits at 2,329 meters above sea level will only grant access to local community members participating in the traditional ritual sequence.
Alongside accommodating the Tengger people's cultural procession, the area closure on 2 June 2026 will also facilitate official post-ceremony site cleanup works.
"Only authorised officers and community members with confirmed involvement in the area cleanup activities will be permitted entry during this time," he explained.
Rudi added that tourists will be allowed to re-enter the Mount Bromo area starting 01:00 WIB on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.
The TNBTS Management Center further urges all members of the public and Tourism service operators to comply with this closure rule, and continue respecting the centuries-old ancestral traditional customs of the Tengger community.
Between January and May 2026, the Mount Bromo tourist area recorded 344,039 total visitor arrivals. Of this number, 332,432 were Domestic Tourists, while the remaining 11,607 were International Tourists.
