The rivalry between Persija Jakarta and Persib Bandung enters a new chapter. This time, the Classic Duel known as El Clasico Indonesia in the continuation of Super League 2025/2026 will be held far from the capital, precisely at Segiri Stadium, Samarinda, on Sunday, May 10, 2025.
The venue shift from Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium to Samarinda extends the unique record of the rivalry between these two clubs with massive fan bases in Indonesia.
It has been seven years since Persija versus Persib was last played in Jakarta, dating back to the 2019 Liga 1.

Super League: Persib vs Persija, Borneo FC Visits Bali United
Since competitions resumed post-Covid-19 pandemic, Persija has essentially been a "wanderer" when hosting the Bandung Maung. In their last four neutral-venue meetings, both teams have shown balanced strength.
Persija secured one win, Persib responded with one victory, while the other two matches ended in draws. This record confirms that neutral venues never truly favor either side.
The first neutral-venue clash occurred in 2021/2022 Liga 1 at I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, Bali. Persib defeated Persija 2-0 then.
However, the Kemayoran Tigers retaliated a season later. Playing at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium in 2022/2023 Liga 1, Persija won 2-0 against their eternal rivals.
The following two seasons delivered more dramatic stories. Persija and Persib drew 1-1 in 2023/2024 Liga 1 before sharing points again with a 2-2 draw in 2024/2025 Liga 1.
Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium witnessed how these two giants' duels always unfold intensely and unpredictably.
Now, Samarinda becomes the new stage for this rivalry. The different atmosphere at Segiri Stadium is expected to not reduce the match's tension, especially as this 32nd-week duel holds significant weight in the 2025/2026 Super League title race.
Persib arrives as league leaders with 72 points—equal to second-placed Borneo FC. Meanwhile, Persija maintains championship hopes from third place with 65 points.
For Persib, a win is crucial to protect their top position from Borneo FC's pressure. For Persija, three points would keep their title chances alive until the season's final week.
With a long history, emotional rivalry, and balanced record in neutral venues, Persija versus Persib promises another major showdown that could decide this season's title pursuit.
