Amid the hustle and bustle of modern Travel, Indonesian travelers are now discovering a new "rhythm," not dictated by seasons or weather, but by numerical patterns on the calendar. Double dates have transformed into significant markers for planning trips.

This phenomenon is not just a fleeting habit, but a behavioral shift that is increasingly ingrained.

Based on booking data compiled by the travel platform Traveloka, visit activity and transactions saw significant increases on double dates like 1.1, 2.2, 3.3, up to 12.12 throughout the March-December 2025 period.

"Our users demonstrate that they want to plan their travels around double dates," said Traveloka Chief Marketing Officer Alex Jung in a press release in Jakarta on Tuesday.

In the Southeast Asia region, this surge is palpable. Visits increased by over 20 percent, with transactions rising nearly 25 percent compared to ordinary days.

In Indonesia, this momentum peaked towards the end of the year, with transaction value growth of around 40 percent during the October-December period.

The chosen destinations reflect a balance of proximity and practicality. Cities like Jakarta, Surabaya, Bali, Makassar, and Medan remain the main magnets for domestic travel.

Meanwhile, cross-country travel continues to captivate, especially to nearby destinations like Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, and China.

These short trips offer a combination of time efficiency and new experiences – two things increasingly sought after by urban travelers.

Double dates have now become the "new season" in the travel calendar, moments where spontaneous decisions meet meticulous planning.

In the ever-evolving Tourism landscape, double dates are no longer mere numerical curiosities but have morphed into a modern compass, guiding travelers on when to depart and where to go.
