Persib Bandung secured a crucial victory when hosting PSIM Yogyakarta in Week 31 of the 2025/26 Super League. Competing at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium on Monday, May 4, 2026, The Bandung Tigers claimed a narrow 1-0 win.

The match's lone goal came swiftly when Persib defender Patricio Matricardi scored with a header just two minutes into the game.

These three additional points solidified Persib's position atop the provisional standings with 72 points from 31 matches.

Beyond the victory, this match marked a special milestone for goalkeeper Teja Paku Alam, who recorded his 100th appearance for Persib in Liga 1/Super League competitions.

Coach Bojan Hodak fielded his strongest lineup from kickoff. Teja Paku Alam guarded the goal, supported by a defensive line featuring Federico Barba, Patricio Matricardi, Frans Putros, and Kakang Rudianto. The midfield was anchored by Luciano Guaycochea, Thom Haye, Adam Alis, and captain Beckham Putra Nugraha, while the attack relied on Rosembrrgne Da Silva and Ramon "Tanque" De Andrade Souza.

Under Japanese referee Yudai Yamamoto, Persib displayed aggressive play from the outset. Their early lead boosted the hosts' confidence as they dominated first-half proceedings.

The second half saw more dynamic action. In the 51st minute, the referee consulted VAR regarding a potential penalty after Ramon Tanque's challenge, but ultimately ruled no foul.

Play was halted in the 54th minute due to spectator disturbances in the stands, resuming once order was restored.

Persib made their first substitution in the 63rd minute, introducing Andrew Jung for Ramon Tanque. PSIM threatened through Ze Valente's 68th-minute free kick, which sailed over the crossbar.

PSIM intensified their equalizer efforts late in the match, while Persib countered occasionally. Jung missed a 75th-minute opportunity to extend the lead.

Persib made tactical changes in the 78th minute, bringing on Eliano Reijnders, Marc Klok, and Saddil Ramdani to stabilize play.

Heavy rain in the closing stages made conditions difficult. Persib faced mounting pressure but maintained disciplined defense.

Julio Cesar replaced Thom Haye in the 87th minute to reinforce the backline. PSIM nearly capitalized on a late injury-time set piece, but Andrew Jung cleared the danger.

Persib created counterattack chances in the final moments, with Berguinho missing two opportunities to widen the margin.

The 1-0 scoreline held until the final whistle confirmed Persib's victory.
