Midfielder Marc Klok confirmed that Persib Bandung's title chances this season are fully in their own hands, following a dramatic 2-1 victory over PSM Makassar in matchweek 33 of the BRI Super League at Gelora BJ Habibie Stadium, Parepare, Sunday 17 May 2026.
Persib came extremely close to dropping points, as the match remained deadlocked at 1-1 all the way into stoppage time. However, Julio Cesar's headed finish from Thom Haye's assist in the 90+7th minute sealed this critical win for Maung Bandung.
“As we all know, we are battling Borneo FC for this season's league crown. That title chance rests entirely in our own hands,” Klok stated, as quoted from the official I.League website on Monday 18 May 2026.

This victory in Parepare carried extra weight, as at the exact same time their main title rivals Borneo FC failed to collect three points after being held to a 0-0 draw by Persijap Jepara at Gelora Bumi Kartini Stadium.
These results put Persib on 78 points, needing just one additional point to secure their third consecutive league championship. For the final fixture of the season, Persib will host Persijap at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium on Saturday 23 May, kick-off 16.00 WIB.
Meanwhile Borneo FC, who still retain a mathematical shot at the title, will face Malut United at Segiri Stadium, Samarinda.
“If we win our remaining two matches, we will be champions. This was exactly the mindset we discussed together before today's match. This is our opportunity, we have to take it,” said Klok, who has already won two league titles with Persib across the previous two seasons.
The 33-year-old player also expressed pride in the fighting mentality shown by the entire Persib squad, noting that the team demonstrated unbreakable character right until the final second of the match.
“I am proud. I am proud of this team, I am proud of the coaching staff, and I am proud of every player that took the pitch today, for the spirit we maintained right down to the very last moment,” Klok concluded.
Prior to this win against PSM, Persib had already shown consistent strong form across several high-stakes fixtures. Maung Bandung secured a 2-1 victory over Persija Jakarta and defeated Bhayangkara Presisi Lampung FC 4-2 during this season's title run-in.
