Indonesian Women's Doubles pair Janice Tjen and Aldila Sutjiadi successfully advanced to the quarter-finals of the prestigious Madrid Open 2026 Tennis Tournament after delivering an impressive performance in the Round of 16.

The Red and White duo secured their quarter-final ticket after defeating the pair Cristina Bucsa and Nicole Melichar-Martinez in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. The match took place on Court 5 of La Caja Magica, Madrid, on Sunday night Western Indonesia Time.

According to the official WTA report, Janice and Aldila played with full confidence from the start of the match. They were able to dominate the game and continuously pressured their opponents through a combination of aggressive play and solid net coverage.

In the first set, Janice/Aldila quickly established an early 2-0 lead. Although the Spanish-American pair put up some resistance and leveled the score, the Indonesian duo regained control of the game to lead 5-2.

Cristina Bucsa and Nicole Melichar-Martinez managed to narrow the deficit to 5-4 after winning two consecutive games. However, Janice and Aldila maintained their focus to close out the first set 6-4.

Entering the second set, the Indonesian pair again played aggressively, taking a 2-0 lead. Some pressure came from their opponents, but Janice/Aldila remained consistent and maintained their game rhythm.

They extended their lead to 3-1 and then 4-2 before finally securing the second set victory 6-2, sealed by a powerful serve from Aldila Sutjiadi that their opponents failed to return.

In the quarter-finals, Janice/Aldila will face the pair Laura Siegemund and Vera Zvonareva. The German-Russian duo previously succeeded in eliminating the top seeds, Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini.

This result marks a significant achievement for Janice Tjen and Aldila Sutjiadi, who continue to show promising performances at the elite level of world tournaments.
