The future of LIV Golf is once again shrouded in uncertainty. The Saudi-backed golf league is reportedly nearing its end following reports that Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) no longer wishes to continue funding the ambitious project.

This news immediately sparked major speculation in international golf. This week's tournament in Mexico City was even doubted to proceed after rumors circulated that the league could collapse at any moment.

However, for now, the competition continues as normal. Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, and other star players still compete in LIV Golf despite the looming shadow of crisis.

The biggest question now is: How much longer can LIV Golf survive?

According to a Fox News report, this season's LIV Golf tournaments remain secure until the competition calendar concludes.

If accurate, staff and players have until late 2026 to seek new futures. This also opens possibilities for LIV stars to pursue returns to the PGA Tour or other elite competitions.

Since its mid-2021 launch, LIV Golf arrived with extraordinary financial power. The league disrupted professional golf by offering massive bonuses and recruiting top global names.

Yet the costs incurred have been staggering.

From its mid-2021 inception, PIF has spent $5.3 billion on LIV Golf—equivalent to $3 million daily over the past 1,750 days.

These colossal funds primarily covered player contracts, tournament prizes, league operations, and television broadcast rights.

Despite this, LIV Golf has never truly rivaled the PGA Tour's dominance in popularity or commercial value.

For players, the project brought substantial benefits. Golfers' bank accounts swelled, and they enjoyed years of spotlight while shaking up golf.

But if the project truly ends, LIV Golf's legacy may feel fleeting. Once touted as revolutionary, the league risks being remembered as an expensive experiment that failed its grand ambitions.

All eyes now turn to Saudi Arabia and PIF's next move. Will LIV Golf be dissolved, merged, or granted one final chance?

For now, tournaments continue. But LIV Golf's future has never appeared more fragile.
