Amid the festive atmosphere ahead of the Jakarta International Championship (Jakic) 2025, young Indonesian golfer Kevin Caesario Akbar appeared full of enthusiasm.

For him, the tournament held from October 2–5 is not just about competition, but also an opportunity to learn from world-class golfers.

"I see it as, the better the players in a tournament, the more I learn. I observe how they play, so hopefully it can improve (my ability)," Kevin said at a press conference on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

The Jakic 2025 tournament is indeed no ordinary event. It marks its debut on the International Series calendar, the premium Asian Tour series that provides a direct pathway to the LIV Golf League.

It's no wonder this event is a magnet for the world's top golfers—from Anthony Kim and Ollie Schniederjans to Zimbabwe's Scott Vincent.

Kevin is fully aware of the challenges he will face. However, he sees it as a golden opportunity to gain experience.

"The International Series event definitely has a stronger field. So many good players are competing this week because the prize money is also bigger than other Asian Tour tournaments," he said.

He comes prepared, having already achieved success by winning titles at The Indonesia Pro-Am 2023 and the 15th Indonesia Golf Pro Series 2023.

Nevertheless, he chooses to stay relaxed. Rather than burdening himself with big targets, Kevin wants to enjoy every shot.

"Tomorrow, just play. I feel I can play well if my mindset is also good," he said casually.

The Damai Indah Golf course itself poses its own challenge. The wind in the North Jakarta coastal area often changes direction, demanding extra focus from every golfer. Kevin has prepared himself to face these conditions.

"Wind conditions are indeed a challenge, so you have to be astute in reading the wind direction," he added.

For Kevin, Jakic 2025 is not just a tournament, but a space to grow. Whatever the outcome, he believes the experience of competing against the world's best golfers will fuel his career moving forward.(Antara)
