Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan is the world's oldest hotel, located in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. Keiunkan serves as both accommodation and a symbol of enduring tradition and distinctive Japanese hospitality amid modernization.

More than a place to sleep, Keiunkan is a living window to the past, where history, culture, and human resilience converge in the mountain silence.

Founded in 705 AD, Keiunkan isn't merely an ancient structure but living proof of inherited tradition.

The hotel has been managed by its founding family across more than 50 generations.

Tatami-style rooms greet guests arriving at Keiunkan. Beyond the windows, the Kai mountain range beautifies each morning.

Keiunkan's primary allure lies in its natural hot springs, used since the era of samurai and nobility.

The thermal waters contain natural minerals like sodium and calcium believed to benefit skin health.

Sourced from four distinct springs, these baths flow ceaselessly, offering tranquility and physical rejuvenation.

Despite its serene eternity, Keiunkan's history includes severe trials—from devastating fires in 1909 and 1916 to a massive boulder strike in 1925.

Today, while savoring the Mountain Kaiseki Banquet or renowned A5-grade Koshu beef celebrated for its tender texture and rich flavor, guests taste history with every bite.

At Keiunkan, time slows. Every corner holds a story. Every night soothes. Every dawn returns visitors to an era where hospitality and calm were the ultimate luxuries.
