Five Lakes Festival Becomes Solok's 'Secret Weapon' to Attract Tourists

On the shores of the lake in Solok Regency, West Sumatra, thousands of residents from various regions gathered. This is the Five Lakes Festival, a grand celebration that is not just entertainment, but a symbol of pride for the Solok community.

This festival was organized by the Solok Regency Tourism Office as an effort to introduce the region's natural and cultural wealth. Solok Regent Jon Firman Pandu emphasized the importance of this moment.

"This festival is not only an entertainment event, but also an important momentum to introduce the natural and cultural tourism potential of Solok Regency to the wider community," he said in Solok on Sunday.

The Regent also emphasized that this event has a broad impact on the community. According to him, this festival is able to strengthen cultural identity, boost the economy of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and the community in Solok Regency.

The Five Lakes Festival is one of the flagship tourism agendas of Solok Regency. The Regent hopes that this event will continue to grow and become a tourism magnet that can improve the welfare of the people.

This festival is filled with various interesting attractions. Visitors are treated to traditional art performances, musical dramas, and appearances by national artists. 

In addition, the moment of announcing the winners of the competition adds to the festive atmosphere.

"The festival, which has been held for several days, features various art, cultural, and creative economy exhibitions from all the villages around the five lakes in Solok Regency," he said.

Various flagship products of MSME actors are also exhibited and sold, ranging from souvenirs, horticultural plants by millennial farmers, clothing, to regional specialties. 

All of this is proof that this festival is not only about art and culture, but also about driving the local economy.

The Solok Regency Government hopes that the Five Lakes Festival can continue to be an annual agenda that strengthens the synergy between the government, tourism players, and the community in developing the region's leading tourism sector.

Recognition of the quality of this festival also comes from the national level. The Five Lakes Festival has been included in the Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN), the official list of Indonesia's leading tourism events. In fact, the festival has been part of KEN for several consecutive years, including 2024 and 2025.
