The Swedish Football Federation (SvFF) has officially announced that coach Graham Potter has extended his contract as their national team manager until 2030. This decision ensures Potter will lead the team through the next major tournament cycle.

This move confirms the federation's trust in Potter's long-term project, expected to restore Sweden's competitiveness at international football's elite level, including the 2030 World Cup.

"Graham Potter has extended his tenure as men's national team manager and agreed with SvFF to continue collaborating through the 2030 World Cup," stated SvFF via its official website.

Potter initially signed a short-term contract upon his appointment in October 2025. However, the 50-year-old quickly convinced the federation he was the right figure to lead Swedish football's new generation.

Potter gained recognition after significant success with Swedish club Östersunds FK over seven years. This achievement propelled him to the Premier League, managing Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea, and West Ham United.

He expressed pride in continuing to lead Sweden's national team in the coming years.

"Continuing this role means a great deal to me. I feel immense pride and responsibility," Potter stated.

For him, this Contract Extension represents a crucial opportunity to rebuild Swedish football's international reputation.

"This is a significant day for me and an extraordinary chance to achieve something important. Sweden is a football nation with a proud history—its teams have reached major tournament finals and competed there. We aim to return to that level," he added.

Sweden previously struggled during World Cup Qualifiers under coach Jon Dahl Tomasson, who was ultimately dismissed.

With Potter, Sweden's chance to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup remains alive. They are scheduled to face Ukraine in a playoff in Valencia on March 27.

If victorious, Sweden will host the winner of Poland versus Albania in Stockholm on March 31.

The winning team will secure a spot in the World Cup finals across the United States, Canada, and Mexico this June.

With his new contract until 2030, Potter now has the time and stability to rebuild Sweden's strength, starting with the critical mission of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
