Manchester United (MU) will definitely be without Lisandro Martinez when they face Newcastle United in Week 29 of the Premier League at St. James’ Park, early hours of Thursday, 4 March 2026 WIB.

MU manager, Michael Carrick, revealed that the Argentine defender has still not recovered from the injury he sustained before last week's match against Everton.

"No, really, no. He won't be with us. He's not ready for that," stated Carrick.

Martinez's absence adds to the list of sidelined players. Carrick also confirmed that Manchester United will still be without Patrick Dorgu and Matthijs de Ligt when visiting Newcastle's home ground.

Mason Mount Edging Closer to Return

Amid the injury storm, there is a glimmer of good news. Midfielder Mason Mount is reported to be showing positive progress and is getting closer to a return to action.

"There are one or two players we're working on getting back. Mason as well, he's getting closer, so unfortunately it's part of the game," explained Carrick.

He acknowledged there are always players unavailable and that they will continue working as hard as possible to get them back.

Meanwhile, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw, two players who didn't feature fully against Crystal Palace due to fitness concerns, continue to be monitored.

Carrick hopes both will be fit enough to play against Newcastle.

MU Target Positive Run and Top Four

Despite the injury concerns, Manchester United arrive with big ambitions. The Red Devils want to extend their winning streak while maintaining their position near the top of the table.

Currently, Manchester United sit in third place in the Premier League Standings with 51 points from 28 matches, trailing leaders Arsenal by 13 points.
