Tourism Indonesia closed 2025 with growth not only in numbers, but also in global recognition. From Tourism Villages in Bali and Banyuwangi to hotels receiving Michelin Keys, Indonesian Tourism showed a new face – more mature, sustainable, and confident on the international stage.
Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa revealed that the performance of the national tourism sector throughout 2025 recorded a very positive trend. This growth, she stated, stemmed from strong synergy between the government, industry players, and the community in building Indonesian tourism that is increasingly high-quality and competitive.
“The achievements attained show the results of good collaboration from all stakeholders in the tourism sector,” said Ni Luh Puspa in her opening remarks at the Astindo Travel Fair 2026 in Hall 1 ICE–BSD City, Tangsel.

Throughout 2025, Indonesia recorded 15.39 million visits by Foreign Tourists, growing 10.80 percent compared to the previous year.
At the same time, the movement of Domestic Travelers reached 1.20 billion trips, surging 17.55 percent.
This is not merely a post-pandemic recovery, but a sign that travel has once again become an important part of the lives of the Indonesian people.
However, the most compelling story comes from the global stage. Throughout 2025, Indonesian tourism garnered 154 International Awards.
Thirty-three hotels in the country received Michelin Keys, while Pemuteran Tourism Village in Bali and Osing Kemiren Tourism Village in Banyuwangi were recognized as Best Tourism Village and Best Tourism Village Upgrade Programme by UN Tourism.
Indonesia also won the “The New Destination Champion Award 2026” from La Liste, France, among other prestigious awards.
“This is a shared pride for all Indonesian tourism stakeholders. This international recognition not only elevates the quality standards of our tourism but also strengthens global public confidence. The better Indonesia's image in the eyes of the world, the greater the interest of tourists to visit our various destinations and tourist attractions,” said Ni Luh Puspa.
Behind the euphoria of these achievements, the government emphasized that quantitative growth must go hand in hand with quality improvement.
The future focus of Indonesian tourism is not merely about attracting more visitors, but about creating meaningful and long-term impactful experiences for local communities.
“I invite all tourism industry players to continue collaborating. Our focus is not solely on visitor numbers, but on meaningful, Sustainable Tourism experiences that can drive the community's economy,” she said.
This spirit of collaboration was reflected in the Astindo Travel Fair 2026 held on 5–8 February 2026, in Hall 1 ICE–BSD City, South Tangerang.
Various elements of the Tourism Ecosystem were present at this event, from Airlines, Tourist Destinations, hospitality, travel agencies, tour operators, cruise lines, to travel gear and apparel providers.
Their presence affirmed that Indonesian tourism does not stand alone, but is built with a broad and interconnected network.
