The Indonesian national team is preparing for the final Group B match in the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup Asian zone qualifiers. Their opponent is Iraq, an Asian giant known for discipline and aggression. Yet amid immense pressure, Kevin Diks is determined to give his best.

Unsurprisingly, in a Friday, October 10, 2025 post on his official Instagram account, he wrote a simple yet profound statement.

“Giving everything for the next 90 minutes! We are Garuda,” Kevin wrote.

In the previous match against Saudi Arabia, despite Indonesia's 2-3 loss, Kevin delivered an exceptional performance.

Sofascore awarded him an 8.0 rating—the highest among all players—for good reason: he scored two penalty goals, beating goalkeeper Nawaf Al Aqidi.

His contributions extended further. Playing as center-back alongside Jay Idzes, Kevin recorded six clearances, one block, three tackles, 68 touches, 46 passes at 85% accuracy, four successful long passes, five ground duels won, four aerial duels won, and one successful dribble.

These statistics reveal Kevin isn't merely a defensive wall but the team's engine, defensive leader, and goal-scoring solution when needed.

With those two goals, this Borussia Mönchengladbach player has now scored twice and provided one assist in seven Garuda appearances—remarkable productivity for a defender.

Victory Over Iraq is Non-Negotiable

The team's focus is now entirely on Iraq. There's no margin for error. Only victory is acceptable.

Sandy Walsh, who earned his 21st national team cap against Saudi Arabia, recognizes the urgency.

Despite playing just five minutes—with three touches and three passes at 100% accuracy—he remains optimistic.

“Cap 21, from World Cup Qualifiers Round 1 to Round 4. Embracing the journey and trusting the process,” Sandy posted on Instagram.

He knows this battle isn't over. He knows one more match could rewrite Indonesian football history.

“Time to prepare for Saturday and fight together for victory. Massive thanks for your incredible support,” he emphasized.

At 02:30 WIB on Sunday, October 12, King Abdullah Sport City Stadium in Jeddah will host Indonesia's most crucial 90 minutes. Either the Garuda soar to new heights or end their journey in the 2025 World Cup Qualifiers. (Antara)
