Pandan Beach: Healing Destination Rises from Disaster

Tourism activities at Beautiful Pandan Beach, Pandan District, Central Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra, are slowly reviving after being halted by floods and landslides in late 2025. This beach, known for its gentle coastline and views of the Indian Ocean, has once again become a favorite relaxation spot for locals and Travelers.

The reopening of road access marked a turning point for Tourism Recovery in the area. Landslide debris that had blocked the main route has been gradually cleared, giving tourists the confidence to return.

“Alhamdulillah, since the road access opened, visitors have started coming,” said the manager of Koffie Pantai in Pandan on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

According to the manager, the disaster forced them to elevate the cafe area to prevent floodwaters from entering. Fortunately, the high tide at the time did not worsen the situation.

“Luckily, the high tide didn’t rise enough to reach his cafe," he/she said.

He/she also appreciated the quick work of the local government and related parties in clearing mud and restoring the tourist area.

“Yesterday we had zero revenue, but today it’s starting to grow again,” he/she said.

The revival of Beautiful Pandan Beach is also felt by visitors. Salwa Amil Qairani expressed happiness at being able to enjoy the beach again after the difficult period following the disaster.

“Back then, this beach was dirty and no one wanted to swim during the disaster. But today it’s good again, and many residents are coming,” she said.

For Salwa, Pandan Beach is not just a tourist spot, but also a space for emotional recovery after the disaster.

“I came with my parents and family to see the scenery at this beach,” she said.

Now, the atmosphere at Beautiful Pandan Beach is lively once more. Tourists are seen playing in the sand, swimming near the shore, and relaxing in cafes while enjoying the sea breeze.
