Jose Mourinho is once again the center of attention in Italian Football after openly acknowledging the possibility of coaching Juventus in the future. This statement stands in stark contrast to his stance over a decade ago, when he firmly closed the door on managing the biggest rival of Inter Milan.
In Serie A, Mourinho's name is strongly associated with Inter Milan, although he also managed AS Roma. With La Beneamata, the coach from Portugal achieved one of the most iconic feats in modern football history.
Mourinho led Inter to win two Serie A titles, one Coppa Italia (2009-2010), one Supercoppa Italiana, and one Champions League title.

Inter Milan knocked out by Bodo/Glimt, four teams advance to Champions League round of 16.
These achievements completed the legendary treble in the 2009-2010 season, a feat that no Italian club has matched to this day.
Mourinho's emotional connection with Inter Milan once led him to declare he would never coach Juventus. In February 2011, he emphatically stated his loyalty to the Nerazzurri and ruled out any possibility of moving to Turin.
"I could never coach Juventus after winning all those trophies with Inter," Mourinho said in February 2011.
"I gave everything for one team, so it's impossible for me to coach their rival club."
However, time seems to have changed his perspective, sounding far more realistic now. In a press conference ahead of Juventus' Champions League match against Benfica in Turin on Wednesday, January 22, 2026, The Special One admitted he wouldn't mind if he were entrusted with managing The Old Lady someday.
"Would I like to coach Juventus?" Mourinho said in response to a journalist's question, as quoted by Calciomercato.
"For me, what would be truly surprising is if a coach with no good track record got the chance to manage the world's big clubs. That would be a shock."
Mourinho then gave examples of how coaching changes at big Italian clubs always made sense to him based on quality and track record.
"When AC Milan chose Massimiliano Allegri, Juventus appointed Luciano Spalletti, and Roma named Gian Piero Gasperini, it didn't surprise me at all."
The most surprising statement finally came, confirming Mourinho's changed attitude towards Juventus.
"Yes, if Juventus calls, I am ready to coach them."
"If that happens in the future, I will accept the job as Juventus coach."
If this scenario materializes, some Inter Milan supporters might view it as an act of betrayal. But for Mourinho, elite football demands total focus on winning.
"This situation is good for the team because we have no other focus than achieving victory."
Mourinho's future in Serie A is once again the subject of intense speculation. Juventus could become the next chapter in The Special One's long journey in Italian football.
