Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti has confirmed he never held any intention to step down from his role leading the Bianconeri, even as the club faces a difficult battle to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League.
Spalletti issued this statement ahead of the high-stakes Derby della Mole clash against Torino at Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, scheduled for early morning WIB on Monday, 25 May 2026.
"That [resigning] has never once crossed my mind," Spalletti stated, as reported by Football Italia on Saturday, 23 May 2026.

Juventus is currently under severe pressure after losing its place inside the top four of the Serie A Standings. A shock 0-2 defeat against Fiorentina in the previous matchweek saw Juventus overtaken by both AC Milan and AS Roma.
This situation has sparked widespread rumours regarding Spalletti's future in Turin. Multiple prior reports claimed the former Italy National Team Head Coach was prepared to resign if Juventus failed to secure Champions League football for the upcoming season.
However, Spalletti expressed confusion over how rapidly public opinion shifted regarding his position. He noted that discussions about a new contract abruptly turned into resignation speculation purely as a result of poor on-pitch results.
"First everyone was talking about a new contract, then suddenly everything turned to talk of me resigning. Every possible narrative is just being thrown onto me," he commented.
Despite this, Spalletti confirmed he will always respect the club management's decision if they choose to make a change at the head coach position. He also clarified that he has never requested any dedicated meeting to discuss resigning.
"If people are considering changes after results like this, I will always position myself for the best interests of the club. But I have not asked to speak to anyone about stepping down," he stated.
The 67-year-old coach also denied rumours of a dispute with Juventus CEO Damien Comolli, and confirmed he has not put forward any special conditions to retain his position at the club.
According to Spalletti, his future at Juventus will not be decided solely by the outcome of one single match, nor by whether the club qualifies for the Champions League.
"My future does not depend on any one single thing. Proper planning means having the courage to look far beyond just immediate match results," Spalletti added.
He also stressed that Juventus' long term project remains unchanged, and will not be altered by the final point difference or league standing at the end of the Serie A season.
"We are working to build the chance to compete for major honours. That goal does not change, regardless of whether we qualify for the Champions League after this match or not," he concluded.
