Tourist arrivals to Indonesia throughout 2025 formed an intriguing cross-border travel map. From Southeast Asia to East Asia, millions of tourists explored tropical beaches, cultural cities, traditional villages, and volcanic landscapes across the archipelago. Among them, five countries emerged as the largest contributors to Foreign Tourist visits.
The Ministry of Tourism recorded 13.98 million foreign tourists visiting Indonesia from January to November 2025. This figure increased by 10.44 percent compared to the same period the previous year.
The composition of these visits shows strong dominance from regional markets. Tourist arrivals remained dominated by visitors from Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, China, and Timor-Leste.

These five countries form the main axis of tourist flows to Indonesia, traveling through air, sea, and land routes to key destinations.
"Cumulatively, these five countries contributed over 56 percent of total Tourist Visits in November 2025," stated Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana in an official release on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
Geographical proximity, flight connectivity, along with cultural and economic ties make these five countries both strategic markets for Indonesian Tourism.
Regarding air entry points, Foreign Tourist arrivals remained concentrated at five major airports: Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Surabaya's Juanda Airport, Medan's Kualanamu Airport, and Yogyakarta International Airport.
Meanwhile, Domestic Tourist movements also reflected massive dynamics.
Deputy Tourism Minister Ni Luh Puspa added that during the same period, Domestic Tourist trips reached 1.09 billion.
This growth is considered evidence of the national tourism sector's strength.
However, behind these impressive numbers lies the challenge of destination equalization. This is notable as over 61 percent of domestic tourist trips remain concentrated in five provinces on Java Island: East Java, West Java, Central Java, DKI Jakarta, and Banten.
Therefore, destination diversification strategies continue to be intensified through strengthening priority destinations, regenerative destinations, and developing tourist villages outside Java.
With the dominance of five countries—Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, China, and Timor-Leste—as the backbone of the international market, Indonesian tourism enters 2026 with a strong foundation and significant opportunities.
