El Clasico returns to the stage, this time in the battle for the Spanish Super Cup trophy. Defending champions Barcelona will challenge Real Madrid in the 2026 Spanish Super Cup final at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, Jeddah, Monday January 12, 2026 early morning WIB.
The two Spanish giants arrive with different narratives. Madrid received positive news regarding Kylian Mbappe's condition, while Barcelona is determined to retain their title.

Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso confirmed Kylian Mbappe is sufficiently fit to join the squad for the decisive match.
“Kylian travels tomorrow. His condition is much improved, he's trained and feels good,” stated Alonso as quoted by ESPN on Friday.
Previously, Mbappe wasn't taken to Jeddah for Madrid's semifinal as he was still undergoing knee injury recovery at Valdebebas. However, the situation changed following Los Blancos' advancement to the final.
This scenario materialized after El Real eliminated Atletico and secured their final spot against Barcelona.
Though uncertain if Mbappe will start immediately, his presence has already transformed Madrid's mentality. Moreover, the French striker consistently boasts an impressive record against Blaugrana.
In last October's El Clasico, he contributed one goal in Barcelona's 2-1 victory over Real Madrid.
This season, Mbappe's performance remains exceptional as current top scorer in both LaLiga and the Champions League.
Barcelona: Defending Champions Play with Conviction
Meanwhile, Barcelona arrives in Jeddah not merely to compete but to maintain dominance.
Barcelona defender Eric Garcia emphasized his team's focus on claiming the Spanish Super Cup trophy.
"We're already in the final. We'll give everything and fight to win that trophy," said Eric Garcia per Barcelona's official website.
According to Garcia, the Spanish Super Cup isn't just early-season decoration, but psychological foundation for the long campaign ahead.
"We'll face a packed schedule. Winning the Spanish Super Cup will give us confidence and motivation. We're Barcelona and we must win here (final)," he asserted.
Third Consecutive Final, Old Scars, and Revenge
The 2026 final marks the third consecutive Spanish Super Cup final clash between Barcelona and Madrid across three straight seasons. Barcelona won in 2023 and 2025, Madrid claimed the 2024 title.
Their last Spanish Super Cup final encounter occurred in 2025. Last year, Barcelona became champions after defeating Real Madrid 5-2 in January 2025.
The upcoming final serves as Barcelona's revenge opportunity after their 1-2 defeat against Madrid in the 2025/2026 LaLiga fixture at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Madrid, in late October 2025.
A Barcelona victory would secure their 16th Spanish Super Cup. Should Madrid triumph, they'll claim their 14th title.
This El Clasico isn't merely a final in Jeddah—it embodies the season's narrative, dominance, and pride of Spain's two greatest clubs.
