The Ministry of Tourism has released the book "Wonderful Indonesia Diving Directory," a comprehensive reference for tourists and professional divers seeking to discover destinations with Indonesia's best dive sites.
This directory is designed not merely as a location list, but as a travel map toward safe, quality, and sustainable diving experiences. Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana emphasized the book's strategic function for diverse groups, from travelers to industry players.
"This directory is expected to serve as an informative and educational guide for both tourists and stakeholders in developing safe, quality, and sustainable diving tourism," stated Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri.

During the Year-End Press Conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, Widiyanti explained that "Wonderful Indonesia Diving Directory" contains more than just location information and advantages of dive destinations.
The book also includes safety and security aspects, crucial needs for both recreational and professional divers.
It details information on hospital availability with hyperbaric chambers, industry readiness through professional dive operators, and various marine ecosystem Conservation-based tourism activities around dive sites. This approach positions Diver Safety and ecosystem sustainability as inseparable parts of the tourism experience.
The directory also groups dive destinations from various Indonesian regions, focusing primarily on Eastern Indonesia. This area lies at the heart of the Coral Triangle, the global center of marine biodiversity.
Highlighted destinations include Bunaken, Wakatobi, Morotai, Labuan Bajo, and Raja Ampat—names that have long attracted researchers, underwater photographers, and divers worldwide.
Widiyanti stressed that as the center of the world's highest marine biodiversity, Indonesia holds both responsibility and immense opportunity to develop world-class marine tourism.
"This directory is expected to support the development and promotion of marine destinations as key drivers of the Tourism Upgrading Program, while encouraging growth in conservation-based tourism that preserves marine ecosystem sustainability," she said.
Moving forward, "Wonderful Indonesia Diving Directory" will not only be available in print but also accessible via indonesia.travel.
This digital platform is projected to become a unified reference for all stakeholders in developing, promoting, and managing dive tourism destinations comprehensively and sustainably.
