Arsenal closed the 19th week of the Premier League by maintaining their top position. Meanwhile, another London club, Chelsea, failed to win again. These contrasting results highlight the difference between title contenders and teams still seeking consistency.

At Emirates Stadium early Wednesday, December 31, 2025, Arsenal dominated against Aston Villa. The Gunners secured a resounding 4-1 victory.

The opening goal came early in the second half. Gabriel Magalhaes put Arsenal ahead in the 48th minute. Four minutes later, Martin Zubimendi doubled the hosts' lead.

Arsenal became unstoppable thereafter. Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus secured the three points with two additional goals. Aston Villa only managed a consolation goal through Ollie Watkins during injury time.

This victory cemented the North London side's dominance in the first half of the season. With three more points, Arsenal solidified their position atop the Premier League standings with 45 points from 19 matches.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa's winning streak ended as they remained in third place with 39 points.

Chelsea Fail to Win Again

A different story unfolded at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea again failed to maximize their home advantage after drawing against Bournemouth.

The Chelsea vs Bournemouth Premier League match ended in a 2-2 stalemate.

At Stamford Bridge, London, early Wednesday, December 31, 2025, four goals were scored in less than 30 first-half minutes.

Bournemouth took an early lead through David Brooks in the 6th minute. Chelsea equalized in the 15th minute via Cole Palmer's penalty.

The hosts briefly led 2-1 in the 23rd minute when Enzo Fernandez beat Djordje Petrovic.

But the lead didn't last. Bournemouth leveled again at 2-2 after Justin Kluivert scored against Chelsea in the 27th minute.

With this draw, Chelsea remained fifth with 30 points, failing to overtake fourth-placed Liverpool. Bournemouth stayed 15th with 23 points.

Manchester United Held by Bottom Club

Manchester United ended 2025 with a 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford early Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

The hosts dominated the first half. MU broke the deadlock through Joshua Zirkzee in the 27th minute. Benjamin Sesko nearly doubled MU's lead, but his header was saved by keeper Jose Sa.

Wolverhampton, who played more defensively, equalized just before halftime. Ladislav's header beat the Red Devils' goalkeeper to make it 1-1, a scoreline that held until full time.

This result kept MU unchanged in sixth place with 30 points. Wolverhampton remained bottom with 3 points.
