Lille failed to bring home points from their visit to Wankdorf Stadium after losing 0-1 to Young Boys on matchday 6 of the 2025/26 Europa League, early Friday morning WIB, December 12, 2025. This defeat felt heavier as Indonesian national team defender Calvin Verdonk was again absent due to injury and didn't even make the player lineup.

Verdonk's absence made Lille's left flank less stable, especially when facing constant pressure from Young Boys who played aggressively in front of their supporters.

The match was actually tight from the start. However, the situation changed drastically when Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi received a second yellow card in the 31st minute after committing a foul in the penalty box.

The referee immediately pointed to the spot, and Les Dogues had to continue the match with 10 players.

Chris Bedia, who stepped up as the executor, failed in his duty. His shot was read by Lille goalkeeper Berke Ozer, who not only parried the initial ball but also thwarted the rebound from Alan Virginius. The first half ended goalless.

With a numerical advantage, Young Boys continued to increase their attacking intensity in the second half. The pressure paid off in the 60th minute when Alan Virginius made a run from the left and sent a low cross that was tapped in by Darian Males from close range. The score changed to 1-0.

In the closing minutes, Young Boys substitute Tanguy Zoukrou was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.

However, Lille still failed to find an equalizer. This defeat dropped them to 19th place with 9 points. Meanwhile, Young Boys, who also collected 9 points, climbed to 20th position.
