Olympique Lyonnais concluded matchday 6 of the 2025/26 Europa League with a 2-1 victory over Go Ahead Eagles at Groupama Stadium, Friday, December 12, 2025, early morning Western Indonesian Time. However, for the Indonesian public, the main spotlight was on defender Dean James. The Indonesian national team defender played the full 90 minutes against one of Ligue 1's representatives.

Although his team lost, James still showed hard work in the backline. Fotmob gave him a 6.2 rating, noting 1 clearance, 1 interception, and 6 recoveries.

The match was heated from the start, with all goals scored within just the first 11 minutes.

Lyon opened the scoring when the game was only three minutes old. Tyler Morton released a precise through ball converted by Afonso Moreira with a header past goalkeeper Jari De Busser. Score 1-0 to Lyon.

Three minutes later, the Eagles equalized. A cross from the right by Melle Meulensteen was headed in by Milan Smit into the bottom corner of Remy Descamps' net. The score became 1-1.

However, the visitors' joy didn't last long. In the 11th minute, Pavel Sulc maximized a loose ball in the penalty box into a goal. Lyon regained the lead 2-1.

After a tight start, the match tempo became more balanced. Lyon almost extended their lead through a chance by Martin Satriano in the 22nd minute, but the ball hit the post.

On the other hand, the Eagles also created several opportunities, but always faltered in the final execution.

In the second half, Go Ahead Eagles increased their attacking intensity. Dean James and the defensive line held firm with discipline, while the forwards tried to penetrate Lyon's solid defense.

Although they troubled the hosts several times, the Eagles still failed to get an equalizer. The final whistle blew, Lyon won 2-1.

This result confirms Lyon's dominance in the Europa League standings, with 15 points from six matches. Meanwhile, the Eagles remain on 6 points.

For Dean James, this match was a stage to prove he could compete against top European teams.
