Bogor Regency once again brings fresh news for nature destination explorers. The local government is preparing a new water tourism experience connecting two iconic lakes in the Cibinong area: Kabantenan Lake and Cikaret Lake. This breakthrough began attracting attention after Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto conducted a direct review by navigating the river flow using a rubber boat on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

This step goes beyond formal inspection. For travelers curious about Bogor's rarely exposed aspects, this route opens new exploration opportunities combining serene lake atmospheres, dense vegetation, and natural waterways. Its potential extends beyond tourism into becoming a public space that will revitalize Cibinong's ambiance.

During the review, Regent Rudy Susmanto emphasized that this area actually holds many spots that have previously escaped residents' and tourists' radar.

Discovering Hidden Gems Behind the Two Lakes

“I observed numerous beautiful points that have remained unseen until now,” he stated.

This wasn't hyperbole. The one-kilometer river route linking both lakes appears naturally lush with vegetation, resembling a mini exploration track for leisurely yet adventurous journeys.

Rudy added his optimism about this route's imminent public opening.

“Hopefully within the next two to three weeks, residents and schoolchildren can experience the route,” he announced.

With its relatively short and safe distance, this path could become an educational tourism alternative for schools or a weekend destination for youth seeking new atmospheres without leaving the city.

From Flood Control to New Tourism Oasis

Kabantenan and Cikaret Lakes already function as water reservoirs, flood controllers, and agricultural irrigation sources. However, Bogor Regency sees greater potential: transforming this zone into integrated water ecotourism.

Earlier proposals considered artificial channels to connect the lakes. But after on-site review, authorities discovered existing natural waterways connecting them. Certain sections merely require normalization to ensure safe and comfortable passage for tourist boats.

Rudy also inspected the Bogor Regency Rowing Secretariat to confirm water sports facilities' readiness for public use. Thus, this area won't just be a tourism spot but also a sports activity space accessible to diverse groups.

Toward New Public Space in Cibinong

Tourism development extends beyond boat routes. Bogor Regency through relevant regional agencies is designing entertainment facilities, tourist boats, and public service amenities to ensure visitor comfort and safety.

Rudy stressed that area development remains tied to environmental preservation efforts.

“When rivers are maintained, government and communities can jointly protect the environment,” he affirmed.

This compelling concept merges tourism with environmental education. Travelers won't just enjoy tranquil waterscapes but will also be encouraged to participate in maintaining the area's cleanliness and sustainability.

If implemented as planned, integrating these lakes could create a new public space—not only photogenic but ideal for relaxing activities like rowing, picnics, birdwatching, or simply enjoying golden hour from the shore.
