Real Madrid once again faces a major puzzle regarding Vinícius Junior's future. The negotiation process for the Brazilian star's new contract has reached another impasse, with further discussions now scheduled only after the 2026 World Cup.

Vinícius' contract runs until June 2027, but uncertainty about his future continues to intensify.

Citing an ESPN report on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, there has been no significant progress in recent discussions regarding a new agreement for Vinícius.

The deadlock has automatically postponed talks until 2026, a concerning duration for a club of Real Madrid's stature.

Los Blancos' internal situation further complicates matters. Vinícius' relationship with coach Xabi Alonso is reportedly strained.

The winger was omitted from the starting lineup four times and displayed angry reactions when substituted during last October's El Clásico.

This tension is said to directly impact negotiation dynamics.

In May this year, Madrid and Vinícius' representatives were near agreement on a new €20 million annual contract plus €10 million bonuses.

However, the player's camp claims the final offer differed from prior discussions as bonuses were excluded.

Conversely, club sources indicate a verbal agreement existed that wasn't formalized.

Management believes the player's side deviated from initial talks. This perception gap caused negotiations to stall.

Vinícius currently earns approximately €17 million annually. His representatives consider a minor increase until 2030 unreasonable, especially given the rising elite player market.

Within management, Madrid remains optimistic about retaining the player who has delivered two Champions League titles and three LaLiga trophies since 2018.

However, club executives reportedly disapprove of Vinícius' camp's attitude during negotiations.

The club unusually initiated talks early in February 2025, when the player's contract still had over two years remaining.

Saudi Pro League interest forced Madrid to act swiftly. But now, a new variable emerges: Mbappé. The French player's massive bonuses reportedly complicate Vinícius' contract demands.

Beyond financial aspects, Vinícius' deteriorating relationship with Xabi Alonso has become a separate internal club concern.

Nevertheless, the player remains integral to Carlo Ancelotti's Brazilian national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
