At the eastern tip of Java Island, as the first sunlight bounces off the summit of Ijen, a new travel narrative is born. Indonesia is introducing the tourism potential of Banyuwangi, West Bali, and North Bali (3B) to the markets of Africa, America, Europe, and the Middle East through the "Familiarization Trip (Famtrip) Quality Tourism" program.
This program is an exploratory journey designed to showcase the authentic face of the archipelago to global tourism industry players.
"The high-spending quality tourism market is a very potential target to pursue, as it can drive the improvement of Indonesian tourism quality," said Deputy Minister for Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism Ni Made Ayu Marthini in a statement in Jakarta, Saturday, November 29, 2025.

The famtrip participants, leading tour operators from Argentina, Mexico, the United States, Egypt, Poland, and Romania, spent nine days, November 15-23, 2025, exploring the exotic landscapes of 3B.
This journey is designed as a strategy to position Indonesia as a top-of-mind destination in Europe, the Middle East, and America.
A Journey That Goes Beyond Ordinary
Embracing the spirit of the GoBeyondOrdinary campaign, this famtrip blends cultural richness, tropical nature, and premium services, signaling Indonesia's readiness to enter the global quality tourism market.
The Ministry of Tourism believes that through experiential tourism, travelers will gain lasting authentic experiences while helping to design tour packages better suited to global market segmentation.
Upon arrival at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, participants were immediately directed to Banyuwangi, a gateway to natural wonders increasingly known to the world.
There, they trekked to the Ijen Crater, witnessing the morning color change above the volcanic crater famous for its blue fire phenomenon.
They also explored De Djawatan Forest, an ancient rain tree forest with a mystical ambiance often likened to fantasy landscapes in epic films, and enjoyed the coastal panorama of Boom Beach reflecting the dynamics of the southern sea.
Tracing the Osing Cultural Trail
While in Banyuwangi, participants were invited into the living space of the local community through a visit to Osing Kemiren Tourism Village, winner of the title The Best Tourism Village by UN Tourism 2025.
Here, they sampled traditional Indonesian gastronomy, brewed and sipped premium Banyuwangi coffee with its strong flavor character.
From Banyuwangi, the journey continued to West Bali via a private yacht through the Banyuwangi International Yacht Club, a special interest experience targeting the premium segment.
On the deck, the sea breeze swept gently while Bali's coastline appeared as light sketches in the distance.
Premium Exploration: Two Sides of Paradise
Entering West Bali and North Bali, participants enjoyed premium accommodation facilities, explored tourism villages, and participated in cultural workshops.
To enrich future tour package references, site inspections were conducted at various premium accommodations.
The journey concluded with a farewell dinner involving local government, associations, and collaborators, celebrating the cross-cultural meeting that opened new pathways for Indonesian tourism promotion.
Wisnu said participants directly experienced unique adventures, cultural diversity, community warmth, authentic gastronomy, and premium services accompanying their journey since the first day. (Antara)
