Amid the bustling fame of Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air that remain tourist magnets, Nipah Beach in West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, moves to a quieter rhythm. This destination is like a small secret—a beach preserving its natural charm without the clamor of crowds.

Nipah Beach is not merely a new snorkeling attraction, but a harbor for travelers yearning for intimate encounters with nature and true tranquility.

At dawn, the coastline stretches like a gentle invitation to forget time, while the clear sea mirrors a soothing blue that calms the eyes.

This is the story of a beach reborn from conservation spirit—an answer for those seeking peace beneath the waves.

Nipah's beauty emerged not by chance but grew from the local community’s struggle and dedication to protect its ecosystem.

The tale begins with Fikri, a member of Nipah’s Turtle Conservation Community (TCC). He shares that Nipah Beach once faced rampant turtle and egg poaching by locals.

“We, as the community here, feel responsible for protecting and preserving the entire marine ecosystem, including turtles,” Fikri stated.

Driven by this commitment, TCC Nipah officially formed in 2018. Their turtle conservation focus—a gradual but steadfast effort—now yields remarkable results.

Nipah’s waters have become a safe haven for marine life, and tourists easily spot turtles once threatened with extinction.

Fikri notes TCC’s impact extends beyond ecology to local tourism.

Guides and visitors increasingly bypass crowded Gili Trawangan and Senggigi, turning their gaze toward Nipah.

As an alternative destination, Nipah Beach offers vibrant coral gardens and guaranteed encounters with marine species rarely seen elsewhere.

Here, snorkelers explore living ecosystems alongside Green Turtles, Hawksbills, and Olive Ridleys.

Success hasn’t bred complacency. Fikri and his team urge broader support for conservation.

They envision Nipah as an ideal model where tourism and preservation coexist, bringing equitable prosperity to locals.

Nipah Beach welcomes all to immerse in Lombok’s underwater serenity and wonders.

Yet this journey transcends scenery—it’s about harmony between humans and the sea.

Amid Nipah’s coastal breeze, Among stands shoreline, greeting visitors with warmth.

As a snorkel rental provider since 2022, Among safeguards Nipah’s waters.

His love for the ocean fuels daily efforts to educate tourists.

While snorkelers often spot turtles gliding freely, Among highlights threats to Nipah’s sustainability.

Windblown or washed-ashore trash poses major risks. Plastic resembling jellyfish—turtles’ favorite prey—endangers marine life.

Turtles also get entangled in nets or hooked by fishing lines, demanding urgent conservation measures.

Among emphasizes that renting snorkel gear here involves responsibility, not just leisure.

Visitors must never step on coral or touch turtles—a foundational principle strictly upheld.

At Rp25,000/hour for masks and snorkels, his affordable service blends business with environmental education. For him, tourism must always walk alongside conservation.

Nipah’s allure reaches globally. Svetlana Elkina, a Russian traveler, is among countless visitors captivated by this beach.

Nicknamed Lana, she chose Nipah not only for its calm waters but for TCC’s natural approach to turtle conservation—unlike some Gili Trawangan sites.

Lana snorkels almost daily, savoring the preserved marine ecosystem and warm social atmosphere. Even on days with murky waters, she spots ten turtles swimming—experiences leaving profound impressions.

For Lana, Nipah’s charm lies beyond marine life in its welcoming community.

“I adore the TCC team. Their friendliness, teamwork, constant smiles, and jokes are irresistible,” she shared.

Ultimately, Nipah Beach proves tourism isn’t just about beauty—it thrives on community. Through Fikri’s perseverance, Among’s vigilance, and Lana’s smiles, Nipah invites everyone to embrace Lombok’s splendor responsibly.(Antara)
