Discounted Airplane Tickets Boost Aceh Tourism, Year-End Holiday Momentum for Exploring Aceh

The long holiday at the end of 2025 could be the best moment for tourists to explore Aceh's charm. The government's policy of providing up to 14 percent discount on flight tickets has been welcomed by the Aceh Culture and Tourism Office (Disbudpar Aceh). This discount is predicted to boost tourist visits to Tanah Rencong. 

The Head of Disbudpar Aceh, Dedi Yuswadi, called the flight ticket price cut a breath of fresh air for Aceh's tourism sector.

“The government's policy of up to 14 percent discount on flight tickets makes Aceh one of the choices for family vacations at the end of 2025,” he said in Banda Aceh, Tuesday, November 19, 2025.

According to him, one of tourists' biggest obstacles has been the high cost of flights on the Jakarta-Banda Aceh route and vice versa. 

Ticket prices often make tourists think twice before flying to Aceh.

“Tourists visiting Indonesia's westernmost province frequently need to calculate costs carefully when using air transport," he explained.

With the discount, these calculations become much more wallet-friendly.

"With the government's ticket price reduction, we're optimistic about increased air transport usage and tourist visits to Aceh,” he added.

New Boost to Explore Aceh's Beauty

Dedi Yuswadi believes more affordable tickets will encourage more people to explore Aceh's natural beauty. 

Sabang, with its clear beaches and calming tropical atmosphere, is predicted to be a popular destination.

The discount is expected not only to increase tourist numbers but also to strengthen Aceh's potential as a comprehensive year-end destination, covering nature, cultural, religious, and culinary tourism.

42 Major Tourism Events Ready to Welcome Visitors

Aceh's appeal at 2025 year-end isn't solely from lower ticket prices. Disbudpar Aceh has prepared extensive tourism and cultural events through the “Khazanah Piasan Nanggroe 2025” program.

Akmal Fajar, Head of Tourism Marketing at Disbudpar Aceh, stated that 2025 will feature 42 tourism, cultural, and creative economy events across all regencies/cities.

“Various cultural festivals, art performances, and creative economy activities are collaboratively presented to attract tourists and deliver memorable Aceh experiences,” he added.

From cultural festivals in Gayo highlands to coastal art performances and Banda Aceh's creative economy events, all are designed to provide authentic and colorful experiences.

Rising Tourism Trend: Aceh Gains Foreign Tourist Attention

Tourism growth optimism is supported by Aceh Central Statistics Agency (BPS Aceh) data. Foreign tourist visits reached 4,314 in August 2025, up 4.85 percent from the previous month. This positive trend is predicted to strengthen further with flight ticket discounts.
