Tourist Village with Sustainability Principles
As a coastal village, Pemuteran is renowned for its beautiful sea, rich local culture, and strong commitment to sustainable tourism practices.
Villagers actively maintain the marine ecosystem and preserve Balinese traditions through various community-based initiatives.
Through collaboration between the community, local government, and various non-governmental organizations, Pemuteran Village strives to balance tourism development with environmental preservation.
This approach makes Pemuteran unique and attractive to tourists seeking authentic and meaningful experiences.
Previously, Pemuteran Village had won the ASEAN Tourism Standard award in the Community-Based Tourism (CBT) category for the 2023–2025 period.
This success at the BTV 2025 continues the tradition of Indonesian tourist villages achieving global recognition, following the successes of Nglanggeran Village (2021), Penglipuran (2023), Jatiluwih (2024), and Wukirsari (2024).
Tourist Attractions in Pemuteran Village
1. Pemuteran Beach
Pemuteran Village offers diverse attractions for anyone seeking tranquility without sacrificing the excitement of exploration.
One of its main attractions is Pemuteran Beach. Here, tourists can enjoy stretches of sand with sunrise panoramas. The area is quite spacious and surrounded by hills, enhancing the natural and calming impression.
Besides relaxing by the shore, visitors can also enjoy diving or snorkeling to witness the well-preserved underwater beauty.
2. Pemuteran Biorock Conservation
Not far from the beach lies Pemuteran Biorock, a marine conservation project featuring the world's largest artificial coral reef.
Here, visitors can see unique coral formations shaped like animals growing on underwater structures.
Observing the coral reef conservation offers a diving experience unlike any other place.
This initiative is a tangible symbol of how the local community protects the sea while creating space for educational tourism.
