Brazil national team midfielder Casemiro stated the Seleção still needs Neymar to achieve their big ambitions at the 2026 World Cup. Neymar's future remains shrouded in doubt due to recurring injuries and declining fitness. However, according to Casemiro, the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star remains an irreplaceable figure for the Seleção.

"If he is physically and mentally fit, he is the best by far. I am his biggest fan," Casemiro told Globo on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

This statement comes amid Neymar's difficult situation, as he still struggles to rediscover his best form. After six up-and-down seasons with PSG, the 33-year-old player suffered a serious injury while playing for Brazil in October 2023, just weeks after joining Al Hilal for a €90 million transfer fee.

His contract in Saudi Arabia was terminated in January 2025 after making only seven appearances and scoring one goal. Now, Neymar is attempting a comeback with Santos, his childhood club, which is fighting to avoid relegation in the Brazilian League.

Since that injury, Brazil has played without Neymar and hasn't shown the sharpness typical of a world champion team. From their last 24 matches, they have managed only 10 wins, seven of which came in competitive fixtures.

Casemiro believes Neymar's presence remains crucial, both technically and psychologically, for the squad. He is prepared to work extra hard so Neymar can return to being the focal point of their play.

"If I have to work my socks off on the pitch so he can provide the final pass or score goals, I will do it," Casemiro emphasized.

The Manchester United midfielder compared it to the Argentina national team still relying on Lionel Messi.

According to him, Neymar's immense talent is often overlooked due to the focus on his lifestyle. Yet, behind all that, there is hard work and high dedication.

"Talent alone isn't enough. Everything he has achieved is no coincidence. He works hard, and I know that from the people around him," he continued.

Casemiro reminded Brazil not to waste Neymar's quality. In modern football, which is fast-paced and intense, players like Neymar can make the difference in crucial moments.

"A player like him can decide the fine line between victory and defeat," he concluded.
