December 2025 Tickets Not Yet Bookable: KAI's Explanation and Tips to Avoid Running Out of Seats

The Christmas and New Year holidays (Nataru) are a highly anticipated time for family trips. However, there's important news for those planning to travel by train during the year-end holidays.

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI announced that ticket bookings for December 2025 are not yet available. This is due to schedule and route pattern updates across all operational areas, from Daop 1 Jakarta to Daop 9.

"Currently, customers can purchase tickets for departures until November 30, 2025 through all official KAI channels: the Access by KAI app, booking.kai.id website, Call Center 121, and official KAI partners," stated Ixfan Hendriwintoko, Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, in a Wednesday announcement in Jakarta.

Ixfan confirmed PT KAI cannot yet determine when December 2025 ticket bookings will reopen. However, he assured official information will be announced promptly after the update process concludes.

"We apologize for any inconvenience during this process," he said.

"KAI ensures all adjustment procedures run smoothly to maintain safe, comfortable, and punctual journeys for customers."

According to Ixfan, these schedule and route updates reflect KAI's commitment to enhancing service reliability and punctuality, especially during peak travel periods like Nataru.

PT KAI advises prospective passengers to regularly check updates via the Access by KAI app under the "Antarkota" menu starting from D-45 before departure.

Tips to Avoid Missing Out on Nataru Holiday Tickets

While December 2025 tickets aren't yet available, start preparing now to secure seats for the holiday period.

Here are some actionable tips:

Use notification features in the Access by KAI app to receive instant alerts when December ticket sales resume.

If peak-date tickets sell out, opt for departures slightly before or after the main holiday period for better availability and lower fares.

For example, if visiting Yogyakarta, pre-book hotels or research attractions like Malioboro, Prambanan Temple, or Mount Merapi nature tours.
