Safety: New Factor in Indonesia's Tourism Appeal
Gallup's data derives from public safety perceptions among adults aged 15+ across 144 countries and regions.
The report confirms the world's highest safety perceptions are now found in Asia-Pacific, including Indonesia.
For international tourists, this reputation builds confidence to explore more destinations across the archipelago, from Yogyakarta's cultural charms and Kalimantan's wilderness to Bali's tropical beaches and Labuan Bajo.
With safety perception reaching 83%, Indonesia now parallels many nations in public comfort.
Unsurprisingly, global tourism trends show rising interest in destinations perceived as safe with welcoming local communities.
Singapore Still Leads, But Indonesia Gains Trust
Though Singapore retains its top global position with 98% of citizens feeling safe walking alone at night, Indonesia's standing remains impressive regionally.
Singapore has held Gallup's global safety top spot since 2006, yet Indonesia's positive trajectory signals growing public trust in national security.
Meanwhile, Malaysia—a favored ASEAN destination—dropped to 102nd globally, lagging significantly behind Indonesia.
Indonesia Poised as Global Tourism Magnet
Indonesia's image as a safe nation, blended with natural beauty and community warmth, makes it a comprehensive destination for global travelers. From adventure, spiritual, culinary, to ecotourism, all can be enjoyed comfortably.
With globally recognized safety credentials, Indonesia offers not just vacation experiences but also peace of mind—something increasingly sought by international tourists.
